App of my Eye | Tap Tap See

I absolutely love being able to do things independently but this isn’t always easy, especially when it comes to figuring out what things are, but this is all a thing of the past with apps like Tap Tap See.

Tap Tap See is used by the Visually Impaired community to recognise things they can’t see.

The way that the App works is you download the free App from the App Store. Then once it has been downloaded and installed, You open the App, I should say the App requires you to have Voice Over enabled before you can use it. Next you point the Screen at the thing you would like to recognise. Then you press the onscreen Camera Button, and it takes about 30 seconds to process. It then uses your Internet connection to tell you what is on the screen in front of you.

Now that i’ve basically given you a tutorial on how to use the App, i’ll get back to the review.
Firstly, the design.
I have used some very intricately designed Apps, this is designed very basically, yet it has everything you need all on one Screen. So yes the design is very basic, but it works exactly as it says on the Tin. There’s no fuss or mess, you don’t have to spend an extended length of time figuring out how to use it, you can just download it and go.

Next, performance.

As I said above, it’s very easy to set up, but how good is the actual App? Well I can tell you, it’s the most affective App i’ve ever used. It only takes 30 seconds for it to figure out what you have taken a Picture of. I have used Computers for over 15 years, and I can’t even search Google that fast.

Here is an example of how good it is.

I was sat drinking a nice Glass of Water, and just messing around with the App. I took a Picture of my Glass, and it said it was a Becks Vier Pint Glass. I was extremely impressed. I tried again with my TV, and it said it was a Samsung Smart 32 inch TV. What a great App.

I would highly recommend downloading this App if you haven’t already. It’s changed a lot of Visually Impaired people’s lives, including mine. The creators of this App, should be very proud of themselves. It’s a fantastic App.

I would have to rate Tap Tap See, a ten out of ten. If you’ve read any of my other reviews, you’ll know that I hardly ever give anything full marks. It’s mainly because everything could always do with improvements, but other than adding more items to their Servers so that the App can recognise even more, I don’t think it needs any improvements.

If you would like to check out Tap Tap See for yourselves, you can download it here.

Have you tried Tap Tap See What did you think? What other visually impaired apps do I need to try? Please let me know down below.
