Confessions of a Blind Guy | God, That Sun Is Bright

For those of you that don’t live in the United Kingdom,, the Sun has suddenly decided to grant us with a very hot appearance, reaching up to and beyond 29 Celsius which is about 79-80 Fahrenheit. As you might have guessed, it is very unusual to have a nice warm Summer over here. In today’s post. I’m going to go through a few eyE Care tips and tricks that are great for the hotter sunnier Weather.

1. Buy A Decent Pair Of Sunglasses.

Don’t worry, they don’t have to cost the earth. They just need to contain one thing, they have to have a UV protection of between 85 and 100%. This is to make sure your Eyes are protected from the Sun.

2. Moisture.

Always make sure that your Eyes are well moisturised. A big tip is to get a small Bottle, fill it with Cold Water, then leave it in the Fridge overnight. Simply spray your closed Eyes with it, and you’ve added some much needed moisture to your otherwise dry Eyes. If you wear Contact Lenses, get some Lenses that states it has added moisture on the packaging.

3. Wear A Hat.

Don’t worry, you don’t need to go for the massive Sun Hat. A regular Sport Cap is just fine. Do make sure however it has a Peaked front. It will keep the Sun out of your Eyes.

4. Sunscreen.

This is the most common thing people think about when it gets hot, but a normal Sunscreen may not be enough. I would advise that you get a Sunscreen that states it’s specifically for your Face. Also make sure it has an SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of at least 30. We don’t want you to burn, do we?. Also when applying the Sunscreen to your Face, put it around the bone of your Eye, use the bone under your Eye, and below your Eyebrow as a template. The worst thing to happen, is for you to burn near your Eyes, and then not be able to open them because they’re so sore.

5. Hydration.

I know what you’re thinking, yes I know to keep hydrated. Well I just thought I would give you a reminder, you need to drink plenty of Water to keep your Body hydrated.

6. Perspiration.

If you’re in the Sun all day doing things, odds are you’re likely to Sweat a lot. A little tip is to get a Roll-On or Cream roll Deodorant. Just give your Forehead a swipe, because if sweat runs down your Forehead, and goes into your Eyes, it’ll sting like hell, trust me I know.

7. Chemicals.

If you are in and out of the Pool all day. Chances are, the Pool has been cleaned, and will have chemicals that you do not want getting in your Eyes. You could wear Goggles, but lets be honest, it’s Summer, and you don’t want to be wearing those things. I would recommend getting a specific Eye Wash, or at least spend 10 to 15 minutes washing your Eyes out at night, and a quick rinse now and then throughout the day.
