Confessions of a Blind Guy | I Hate Insomnia

If you watch my YouTube videos, you will know that I go through weeks of not being able to sleep. With me being visually impaired, this can be a disastrous situation. In this post, i’m going to give you a few tips I’ve learnt over the years. So if you have gone through the long hours of laying there, and not being able to sleep, this post is most definitely for you.

1. Moisture.

After a sleepless night, the last thing you want all day is to be constantly itching your Eyes. Your Eyes are itching because they need moisture. My tip is to get a Cucumber, simply cut two thick slices and then put them on your closed eyes. The water from the Cucumber will add extra moisture to your eyes. Cucumbers are used in many forms of eye creams, moisturisers, and facial products. Why pay extreme amounts of money to get the same results?

2. Tired Eye Look.

Now that we have covered moisture, we need to make our Eyes look fresh and relaxed, rather than red and puffy. My tip is to  get two used Tea Bags, yes I know it sounds strange. Make sure to squeeze all of the Water out of them. Next leave them on top of your closed Eyes. It should reduce the puffiness and redness of your eyes in about 10 minutes.

3. Ageing.

Right, if you go through very long periods of sleeplessness, Lines and Wrinkles may start appearing underneath your Eyes. My tip is to get an Under Eye Roll On. They are made by many different Beauty companies, including, Garnier, L’Oreal and many others. If you live in the UK like me, go to the store Wilkinson’s, or Wilko, as it’s now known, and there is an Eye Roll On that is only £2, this is the one I use. Just make sure it has Caffeine, to make your Eyes look wide awake, and that it also has Q10, this is an Anti-Ageing chemical, and this will make sure you don’t get hideous Lines around your Eyes. Just because you couldn’t sleep, doesn’t mean you have to look dead around the Eyes.

4. Relax.

Now a kind of obvious tip. When you’re going through a long period of sleeplessness. A few hours before you’re planning to go to sleep. You need to relax your Eyes. That means NO SCREENS. Don’t turn off your TV if you’re watching something. Just don’t look at it, or keep your Eyes closed. This will let your Eyes know, right i’m going to sleep soon.

5. Masking.

It may not help, but. if you’re awake a lot in the night, you may want to get yourself an Eye Mask. If you decide to do this, the gel based Masks are best. They mould themselves to your Eyes, which means they’ll feel more comfortable.

6. Sleep Crystals.

So you finally think, ah i’m going to have a good nights rest tonight, but you know that when you wake up, you’ll have all them stupid Crystal things stuck around your Eyelids. Well a little tip is to get a ChapStick or Lip Balm and just rub it along the bone underneath your Eyes. Whilst you’re asleep, the Sleep Crystals fall out of your Eyes and collect on the strip of Balm,. When you wake, just wipe away the Balm and the Sleep Crystals are gone.

Those are just a few of my insomnia tips. I hope this post has helped you. If you have any other tips, please let me know down below.
