Hi all my wonderful readers. I hope you’re all having a fabulous day. This is the third, and last post in my Event Extravaganza mini series. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading them. I love going to events as it gives me a chance to meet new and interesting people. A couple of weeks ago, Jamie was invited to The Blackhouse Leeds, The Grill On The Square to write a menu review. Being the kind person he is, he brought me along as his plus one.
The Blackhouse, The Grill On The Square, is a steak and seafood house specialising in wholesome ingrediants. They like to mix traditional flavours with different combinations.
The Grill On The Square is a premium steak and seafood house specialising in 28 day matured steak, and fresh smoked and broiled seafood. They also offer some incredible desserts, from your classic puddings to liquid desserts. After wandering around Leeds for a good 20 minutes, we finally found the restaurant. Upon arriving at their wonderful restaurant, we was greeted by a friendly woman who asked if we were ok. We said hi, and that we had a reservation for two. She checked her notes and showed us to our table. After a little while, we was greeted by Chris, the manager. As we were a little confused as to what was going on he left us for a little bit to get our bearings. After we had figured out everything, we started to look at all the yummy things on the menu. After a little look, Chris came back and asked us what we would like to drink. Now as you may know, I don’t really drink but for this I decided to make an exception. Jamie had ordered himself a Spiced Passion Fruit Mojito so I decided to get the same. As well as containing Passion Fruit Liqueur, it also had Rum, Orange Rum Liqueur, Mint, and Pineapple Juice. Oh my god, it was heaven. I love a good Mojito, and this offered a refreshing twist on one of my favourite drinks. Uh! It really was to die for. I’m even going to be returning at some point just for one of these. After our drinks arrived, we looked at the menu again and tried choosing our food. There was so much to choose from. They had everything from Lobster and Steak, to Pork and Fajitas. We decided on a starter of Spiced Honey Glazed Chicken Skewers. After a little while of us drinking and chatting, the skewers arrived. Oh they were so good. The Chicken was perfectly cooked, with a sweet and sticky honey sauce. It came with this creamy dipping sauce. It turned out it was chipole mayonaise. It had a very subtle kick to it. Not too hot but enough that you noticed it. Oh it was gorgeous. It was the perfect accompliment to the sweet and sticky chicken. Next up came the main. Jamie decided to go for the full rack of Barbaque Ribs which came with Chips, Coleslaw, Onion Rings, and extra Barbecue Sauce. I decided to get the Pulled Pork Burger, which came with Chips, and Onion Rings. The Pulled Pork was so succulent and moist. It was nice big chunks instead of little gritty pieces that get stuck in your teeth. The burger Bun was toasted to perfection. Not too crispy that it breaks your teeth, but enough that it gives a nice crunch. You could tell that the Lettuce, Tomatoes, and Onions, were fresh that day. The Lettuce and Onions were crunchy, and the Tomatoes were nice and juicy, a little too juicy as it happens, because the juice ended up rolling down my hands haha! They had added a little stick with some kind of fruit on it as a garnish but I didn’t really eat that as it had a very strange smell. It did make the burger look amazing. The Chips were out of this world. it’s very easy to get Chips wrong, but these were fantastic. They were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They went perfectly with the burger. The Onion Rings were gorgeous. They were absolutely full of Onions, and really crispy. They were just the right thing to finish the plate off. About half way through our main meal, Chris came up and asked if we were ok, and if we needed anything else. As we had finished our first drink, we decided to get another. Instead of getting another Spiced Passion Fruit Mojito, oh that was gorgeous, we decided to try something else. The drink we settled on was the Summer Thyme. The Summer Thyme contained Gin, Plums, Thyme, and Fig Liqueur . It was gorgeous. I’m not really a Gin drinker, but it was nice. It was a different taste to what I am used to, but it was to die for. It was more of a deeper sour taste than the first drink. After all that, I was incredibly full, but that still didn’t stop me from ordering dessert. After looking at all the different desserts, including their liquid ones. A liquid dessert is essentially a dessert made from cream and alcohol. For example, the Jaffa Cake, had Orange Liqueur in it. We both decided on a Raspberry Pavlova. It looked amazing. I was expecting a little piece of pastry and meringue, with a blob of cream and Raspberry sauce. Instead what I got was layers of crunchy meringue, fresh cream with slices of strawberries, raspberries, and a few other berries. It was a little hard to eat because I couldn’t seem to get into the middle of it. Once I did, it was the most creamiest, crunchiest, Pavlova on the planet. After we had eaten all the incredible tasty food, we decided it was time to go. We said our thank yous and goodbyes and left feeling as big as a house. For those wondering, The Blackhouse, The Grill On The Square not only has incredible food, they also have some incredible deals. Like a very reasonable Lobster deal, and if you’re also a student they offer some great discounts on their incredible food.
