It’s almost Valentines season, basically the time all the shops ram the fact that you’re all alone down your throat, and that means that Lush have of course released their Valentines Day collection, and being the addict that I am, I had to go take a look, and out of all the new lovely products, I managed to restrain myself and only pick up two products, which were the Unicorn Horn Bubble Bar and the Prince Charming Shower Cream.
Lush describe the Unicorn Horn Bubble Bar as a sparkly horn shaped bar containing Lavender Oil, to help you relax, and Neroli Oil, to brighten your mind.
The shape did kind of creep me out to begin with, but it strangely does look like the side of a Unicorn’s Horn, well if a Unicorn’s Horn is a strange shade of purple and pink, and is dowsed in Silver Lustre. Even though it has Lustre all over it, you only get a very light sprinkling of it in your bath.
The scent isn’t something I would usually go for, but I rather liked it. Lavender usually sends me right to sleep, but this just made me feel extremely relaxed and at one with the world, god that sounds cheesy, but it did. I could definitely smell the Lavender Oil, and I did get a faint whiff of the Neroli Oil, but when I used it I got a strange Pepper smell, and seeing as how there’s no Pepper in the Unicorn’s Horn, I don’t know where I was getting Pepper from.
It did create quite a lot of bubbles, that’s kind of the point of a bubble bar haha, but I only used the tip of the Unicorn’s Horn. It was only about a centremetre sized piece, but the bath was full of bubbles.
After I had used this earlier, my skin felt absolutely amazing and so soft, but to my disappointment the scent doesn’t really linger on my skin. Being that I could smell the Lavender Oil from outside the bag, I kind of expected it to have a stronger smell, but that could have something to do with the amount I used.
The Unicorn’s Horn is massive though, and if I use it carefully, I could easily get five or six gorgeous smelling baths out of it.
Lush describes the Prince Charming Shower Cream as a rich softening shower cream containing, Cocoa Butter, to leave your skin feeling ultra soft, Marshmallow Root and Fairtraide Vanilla, to soothe, and organic Pomegranate Juice and Grapefruit Oil to invigorate your skin.
I found the texture of this a little weird. Because this is a Shower Cream and not a Shower Gel, it’s actually quite thick. Even though it’s rather thick, it spreads quite easily, and I only needed the littlest drop to cover my skin.
Even though it’s supposed to smell of Marshmallows, Pomegranate, and Grapefruit, it strangely smells like Jaffa Cakes. I’m not sure either, but that’s what it smells like, and I for one won’t be complaining of smelling like Jaffa Cakes, haha!
After using this my skin felt gorgeous. I think it had something to do with the Cocoa Butter, wmatever it was, my skin loved it and I may have to go back and purchase a bigger bottle of this yummy smelling shower cream.
Overall, I would have to rate the Unicorn Horn Bubble Bar an eight point five, and the Prince Charming Shower Cream a nine point five out of ten. I really enjoyed the Unicorn Horn, but it needs to have a stronger Lavender smell for me, but otherwise it’s fantastic. The Prince Charming Shower Cream was out of this world. I bought it just to try it, thinking I wouldn’t like it and have to pass it onto someone, but I really like it and I may have to go back and purchase the bigger bottle.
The Unicorn Horn Bubble Bar and the Prince Charming Shower Cream, are part of Lush’s Valentines Day collection, so they won’t be around forever. If you would like to try these gorgeous products for yourself, you can either pop into your local Lush shop, or you can buy it online here.
