I’ve heard really good things about Flamingo Candles, and you know I can’t resist a good candle, so I thought I would check them out. After a good couple of hours of looking through their website, I came across a special range of three candles called the Cocktail Classic Jar range, and then my eyes lit up when I saw that it included a Mojito Candle. I’ve been looking for a Mojito Candle for ages. I of course couldn’t just buy one candle haha! The range also included a Pina Colado, and a Kir Royale. Seeing as how I have an aversion to anything that smells mildy of Coconut, I went with the Kir Royale, and after burning them for a little while, I thought I would tell you what I thought.
Here’s what Flamingo Candles say about their Mojito and Kir Royale Cocktail Classic Jar candles.
The Mojito Cocktail Classic Jar Candle is fresh and zesty with citrus top notes of Lime, Lemon, and Grapefruit, leading to a Peppermint heart, resting on a musky background.
The Kir Royale Cocktail Classic Jar Candle is a sweet and spritzy Creme De Cassis fragrance lavished with notes of sparkling wine.
The Mojito smells incredible in it’s jar. It smells just like a real Mojito. It has a really strong mint base with a Lemon and Lime undertone. I can’t really smell the Grapefruit, but I think that’s because the Lemon and Lime overpower it. As I said, it smells incredible in the jar, but when I lit it I was a little disappointed, as the scent wasn’t really strong enough. I could smell it, but only extremely faintly. It smelt a lot stronger once I had gone out of the room for a little while.
The Kir Royal also smells gorgeous in it’s jar. I’ve never had a Kir Royale so i’m not entirely sure what it’s supposed to smell, or taste of, but it does smell incredible. It also strangely smells of The Body Shop’s Cranberry range, only with a kind of boozy undertone. The Kir Royale was pretty much the same as the Mojito in that I couldn’t really smell it until I went out and came back into the room. It was a little stronger once I had just lit it, but not by much.
I really like the design of the jars. They’re all large square shaped jars with three dimensional coloured Flamingos on the front. The Mojito has a green Flamingo, and the Kir Royale has a red one. I’m not sure if every candle in their massive range has a different coloured Flamingo, but if they do, it’s a really nice added touch. The only thing I didn’t like about the jars was that they had metal lids. When you try to extinguish the flame by putting the lid on the jar, you almost burn yourself, but other than that the jars are really cool, and i’ll definitely be reusing them for something.
Overall I would have to rate the Mojito Cocktail Classic Jar Candle a six point five out of ten, and the Kir Royale Cocktail Classic Jar Candle a seven out of ten. If they smelts stronger when lit then it would have been much higher. If you’re looking for candles that smell incredible, but are really subtle, then I highly recommend the Flamingo Candles Cocktail Classic Jar candles. I think they’re amazing, but I need something a little stronger.
