How I Keep My Nails Looking Good

Hello everyone, welcome to another post.

A few weeks ago, I got a very nice compliment about my nails.

Today I thought I would share how I keep them looking so good.

First, let me just say, since about four or five years old, I have bitten, picked, whatever you want to call it, with my nails.

I have on many occasions, over the many of years, managed to stop, but unfortunately, it never really lasted.

In 2008, I did finally manage to stop, well I say stop. I found a way to keep it under control. The way I control my little habit, is to let them grow from anywhere between one to three months. Then I allow myself to completely get rid of them, either by cutting, filing, or picking them off. Strangely, this makes them grow back, thicker, longer and healthier. I have no idea why, but they do.

Once they are the desired length, i say desired, I really mean, the maximum length I can cope with.

There is a few steps I take to keep them looking their best, and I thought I would share them.

The first is filing and buffing. My nails for some reason grow at strange angles, also parts of my nails grow at different speeds. What I mean by this is, the left side of my nail, could be considerably higher than the right. That is why I occasionally file them down, this way they look even.

I also have some nails that have a very strange groove running down the center of them, primarilly the middle finger on my left hand. This is why I also buff the fronts of my nails.

Now that I have covered how I keep them looking neat and tidy, let me move onto how I keep them looking nice and shiny.

My tip may sound strange, but trust me, it works.

Like I said before, about how I get rid of the weird grooves, well before I do that, I rub a little lip balm, lip butter, or if I am running low, vaseline on each individual nail.

Once a decent amount has been applied, I give it a few minutes until it slightly dries. Then I give it a quick buffering with a nail file. Then I simply wipe of the left over balm that hasn’t been caught by the file.

There you go, nice shiny, smooth nails.

After looking after my nails, it seems pointless to go through all that and not keep my hands looking good.

I usually use a hand cream once I have finished my nail process.
There is many different ones out there on the market. The ones I like are from The Body Shop. The reason I like them is because they’re ridiculously cheap, and oh my god their smell is to die for. My favourites have to be the Satsuma and the Grapefruit. They are the most zestiest fruitiest smells on the planet, plus at £3.50 a tube, you can’t go wrong.

These are just my little tips to keep my nails looking their best. If you have any other great tips I should know about, please get in touch.
