Tea Tastes Terrific | Cake’ole Bradford Afternoon Tea For Two

Earlier this week, both me and Jamie decided to treat ourselves to Afternoon Tea at Cake’ole Bradford, and after having a fantastic time stuffing our Faces full of all of the delicious Food and Drink, I thought that I would tell you all about it.

A tall silver metal cake stand that has some white teacake sandwiches, some crisps, a pile of green salad, two large circular golden brown scones, a cylindrical jar full of white clotted cream, a cylindrical jar full of some dark red jam, a large circular chocolate covered cookie, a small circular white macaron, a large circular white cupcake and a large slice of dark brown chocolate cake on it on a large rectangular light wooden table, on a white background.

What happened when I visited Cake’ole Bradford.

Once we had arrived in Bradford, and had wandered around for a little while, we eventually headed to Cake’ole Bradford, which is located in between Starbucks and the Alhambra Bradford on Centenary Square in Bradford City Centre.

Then once we had walked into the very beautiful and relaxed feeling Cafe, we found ourselves a really nice Table in front of a massive Window and started to chat about which Afternoon Tea we should get. Then after a couple of minutes of us both chatting, a really nice Staff Member came over, said hi, and gave us a Menu. Then after a minute or two of us all chatting, she said that once we were ready to order to just go over to the Counter, and that she hoped that we enjoyed our meal. Then after about five or so minutes of us both chatting, Jamie went over to the Counter to place our order, and after about five or so minutes of us waiting, one of the really nice Staff Members brought us our Drinks and a massive Cake Stand full of really delicious looking Sandwiches, Scones and Cakes over.

What I had to eat and drink at Cake’ole Bradford.

The first thing that I had to eat and drink was their Passion Fruit & Orange Loose Leaf Tea.

I really liked this, as i thought that it had a delicious fresh and zesty yet ever so slightly sour Passion Fruit taste to it that was perfect to drink after I had finished eating some of the really delicious but extremely sweet Cakes. I unfortunately couldn’t really taste any of the Orange though, which was a shame, as I thought that it would have added a little bit of extra sourness to it’s already fresh and zesty yet ever so slightly sour Passion Fruit taste.

The Next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Tuna & Mayonnaise Sandwich.

I really liked this, as even though it was just a Tuna & Mayonnaise Sandwich, I thought that it tasted extremely fresh and wasn’t overly sloppy like some of the other Cafe Tuna & Mayonnaise Sandwiches that i’ve tried in the past. I also really liked that it came inside a really soft Teacake with an ever so slightly crusty top that I thought added a really nice bit of nuttiness to the entire Sandwich.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Ham & Cranberry Sandwich.

I absolutely loved this, as I thought that adding Cranberry Sauce to a Ham Sandwich made it taste really sweet and fruity yet ever so slightly salty, and also added a little bit of a festive twist to a normally very boring Sandwich. I also really liked that it contained a very thick piece of Ham instead of Wafer Thin Ham, and that it came in a very soft Teacake with an ever so slightly crusty top that I thought added a really nice bit of nuttiness to the entire Sandwich.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Egg & Mayonnaise Sandwich.

I really liked this, as I thought that it contained the perfect amount of both Egg and Mayonnaise and wasn’t overly sloppy like a lot of the other Cafe Egg & Mayonnaise Sandwiches that i’ve tried in the past. I also really liked that it came inside a really soft Teacake with an ever so slightly crusty top that I thought added a nice bit of nuttiness to the entire Sandwich.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Cream Cheese & Cucumber Sandwich.

I wasn’t really a massive fan of this, as I hate the taste of Cream Cheese and basically thought that it tasted like neat Butter. I did however think that it was a nice addition to the selection of Sandwiches that were on offer though.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Fruit Scone served with Clotted Cream and Strawberry and Black Pepper Jam.

I really liked this, as I thought that the Scone was absolutely massive, that it wasn’t overly crumbly but was still incredibly buttery ,and that it wasn’t absolutely crammed full of Dried Fruit like a lot of the other Scones that i’ve tried in the past. I also thought that the Clotted Cream tasted incredibly fresh and creamy, and that the Strawberry & Pepper Jam had a really sweet and fruity yet ever so slightly savoury taste to it because of the addition of the Black Pepper.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Vanilla Cupcake.

I really liked this, as I thought that it felt incredibly light and fluffy but also had a tiny bit of chewiness to it because of it’s Icing. I also really liked that I could taste the Vanilla without it being too overpowering, as sometimes Vanilla Cupcakes are so sweet and synthetic tasting that they make you feel a little bit sick after you’ve eaten them.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Whoopie Pie.

I really liked this, as even though it took me a moment or two to figure out exactly what it was, I loved that it had a soft yet ever so slightly crunchy centre to it that was kind of like a cross between a Marshmallow and a Wafer, and that it had been dunked in a very thick layer of Chocolate that made it very moreish. I also really liked that it’s Chocolate tasted very indulgent, and that it also had little bits of crunchy Cereal all over the top of it.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Coffee Macaron.

This was probably one of my favourite things of the entire Afternoon Tea, as even though i’m not a massive fan of Coffee, I thought that it’s centre  tasted very deep and bitter and that it’s outer layer tasted very sweet and chocolatey. I also really liked that it’s outer layer was very light but had an ever so slightly chewy texture to it, and that it’s centre was essentially just a blob of molten liquid.

Then the last and final thing that I had to eat and drink was their Chocolate Cake.

I really liked this, but as I had already eaten quite a lot, I couldn’t finish the entire slice even though I thought that it tasted incredibly sweet and chocolatey. I also really liked that it was covered in a layer of Chocolate Buttercream that you could tell had been handmade, and that it also came with a little cube of Chocolate on top of it that I thought was a really nice finishing touch.

Then once we had finally finished stuffing our Faces full of all of the delicious Sandwiches, Scones and Cakes, we decided that it was time to head off. So we said our thank you’s and goodbye’s to the really nice Staff Member that we had met during our meal, and headed off back into Bradford to catch our Bus.
