Tea Tastes Terrific | Patisserie Valerie Manchester Afternoon Tea For Two

A couple of weeks ago, both me and Jamie went for Afternoon Tea For Two at Patisserie Valerie Manchester, and after having a fantastic time stuffing our faces full of delicious food and drink, I thought that I would tell you all about it.

A tall silver metal cake stand that has some white and brown finger sandwiches, some small cylindrical golden brown scones, some brown slices of cake, two miniature eclairs, four short cylindrical glass jars full of some dark red jam and two tall clear glass jars full of some white cream on it on a dark wooden table, on a white background.

What is Patisserie Valerie?

Patisserie Valerie, is a range of Cafe’s that serve a wide selection of handmade Cakes, Patisserie, Continental Breakfasts, Lunches and Teas and Coffees all around the UK.

What happened when I visited Patisserie Valerie Manchester?

Once we had finally arrived in Manchester, and had wandered around for a little while, we eventually headed to Patisserie Valerie Manchester, which is located opposite Bella Italia, on St Ann Street in Manchester City Centre.

Then once we had walked into the very modern looking Cafe, we were both very kindly greeted by a really nice man who said hi, and asked us if we would like a table for two. We said hi back, and that yes we would, and after a little bit of navigating around a couple of tables, he showed us to a massive table in the corner with some really comfy Leather Armchairs and said that he would be back in a few minutes to take our order. Then after a couple of minutes of us chatting, he returned and asked us what Drinks we would like and said that he would be back with our Food and Drink in a couple of minutes.

Then after a couple of minutes of us both chatting, he returned with our Drinks and a massive Cake Stand full of some really delicious looking Sandwiches, Scones and Cakes.

What I had to eat and drink at Patisserie Valerie Manchester.

The first thing that I had to eat and drink was their Hot Chocolate.

I absolutely loved this, as I thought that it tasted really Chocolatey and creamy and that it didn’t taste like they had used some kind of instant Hot Chocolate Powder. I unfortunately could only have one of them though, as they were extremely heavy.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Cucumber Sandwich, Cucumber on White Bread.

I actually really liked this, as even though Cucumber usually tastes quite bland and boring, I thought that it tasted really flavoursome as they had seasoned the Cucumber to perfection.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Sandwich, Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese on Brown Bread.

I was a little apprehensive about this, as I usually find that Salmon tastes extremely fishy and i’m also not really a massive fan of Cheese. But because they had used Brown Bread, I thought that it added a really nice nutty taste to the entire Sandwich that took away from the really fishy taste of the Salmon and made the Cream Cheese more or less unnoticeable.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Egg Mayonnaise Sandwich, Egg Mayonnaise & Cress on White Bread.

I really liked this, as Egg Mayonnaise is one of my favourite Sandwiches, and because they had also included Cress and a tiny bit of Pepper, I thought that it added a really nice yet ever so slightly spicy touch to it that made it the perfect Egg Mayonnaise Sandwich.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Ham Sandwich, Ham, Spinach & Mustard on White Bread.

I really liked this, as I thought that the Ham was full of flavour and had a little bit of a bite to it, and that the Mustard added a very mild spicy kick to everything. But I did think that it could have done without the Spinach, as I thought that it didn’t really add anything to the Sandwich.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Chicken & Pesto Sandwich, Chicken, Pesto & Sunblazed Tomatoes on Brown Bread.

This probably had to be my favourite Sandwich of the entire bunch, as the Chicken was soft and tender but still had a tiny bit of a bite to it, the Pesto tasted extremely fresh and green, and the Sunblazed Tomatoes added a really nice Italian touch to everything.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Fruit Scone with Clotted Cream & Marmalade.

I absolutely loved this, as the Scone was crumbly but not overly crumbly, tasted really rich and buttery, and had just the right amount of Fruit to it that you knew that it was a Fruit Scone but not so much that you couldn’t taste the butteriness of it. I also really liked  the Clotted Cream and Marmalade, as the Clotted Cream was incredibly thick and creamy, and the unusual addition of Marmalade added a delicious but ever so slightly sour taste that cut through all of the sweetness from the Scone and the Clotted Cream beautifully.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Plain Scone with Clotted Cream & Raspberry Jam.

I absolutely loved this, as the Scone was crumbly but not overly crumbly and tasted really rich and buttery. I also really liked the Clotted Cream and Raspberry Jam, as the Clotted Cream tasted really thick and creamy and the Raspberry Jam added a really nice sour touch to everything that cut through all of the sweetness from the Sponge and the Cream perfectly.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Mini Victoria Sandwich.

I really liked this, as the Sponge was extremely light and airy, and tasted very sweet but not overly sweet. I also really liked that the Cream tasted really thick and creamy, and that the Strawberry Jam added a really nice sour touch to the Scone that cut through all of the sweetness from the Sponge and the Cream perfectly.

The next thing that I had to eat and drink was their Mini Chocolate Eclair.

I absolutely loved this, as the Choux Pastry was really light but had an ever so slight bit of a bite to it, and tasted really sweet but not overly sweet. I also really liked that the Crean was really rich and silky, and that the Chocolate that it was coated in tasted really creamy but also had a very slight bitter aftertaste to it that cut through all of the sweetness from the Pastry and the Cream brilliantly.

The last and final thing that I had to eat and drink was their Mixed Berry Moose Slice.

I definitely think that this had to be my favourite Patisserie of the entire bunch, as even though it was called a Cake, it was more like a thick and wobbly piece of creamy Jelly that reminded me more of a Pannacotta rather than a slice of Cake. I also really liked that it tasted really thick, creamy and ever so slightly sour, as it had a gooey Strawberry Syrup centre and Strawberry Seeds running all the way through it.

Then once we had finally finished stuffing our faces full of all of the delicious Food & Drink, we just sat and chatted for a couple of minutes and finished our Drinks before we eventually decided that it was time to head off. So we said our thank you’s and goodbye’s to the really nice man that had been serving us, and headed off back into Manchester to catch our Train.
