Discovering The Quirkiness Of York | Thomas’s Of York

A couple of weeks ago, both me and Jamie met up with Michelle and Dan in York for a little bit of a catch-up over a couple of Drinks at Thomas’s of York, and after having a fantastic time sipping some really delicious Cocktails, I thought that I would tell you all about it.

What is Thomas’s Of York?

Thomas’s of York, is a Pub and Kitchen that serves a wide range of delicious food and quirky Cocktails in York City Centre. It has been voted one of the top five Pubs in York for Food, Drinks and Customer experience and has also been designed by the Yorkshire Tourism Board.

What happened when I visited Thomas’s Of York?

Once we had finally arrived in York, and had met up with Michelle and Dan, we wondered around for a little while before we eventually decided to head to Thomas’s of York, which is located next door to Brew & Brownie on Museum Street in York City Centre.

Then once we had entered the very cool and quirky looking Pub, we found ourselves a massive table with some comfy Leather Sofas on a really nice raised platform that looked over the rest of the Pub and started to look at their huge Drinks Menu. Then after we had finally decided on what to order, Jamie went up to the Bar to place our order, and after a couple more minutes of us all chatting, a really friendly Barman started to bring us our Drinks over.

What I had to drink when I visited Thomas’s of York.

Two short cylindrical wavy designed Glasses full of some dark red liquid, some clear ice cubes and some red and green cherry sweets in front of a bright blue bag that has Haribo written in bold red writing on it on a dark wooden table, on a white background.

The first thing that I had to drink was their Rola Cola, Amaretto, Cherry Syrup and Cola.

This was absolutely delicious, as I thought that it tasted like I was just drinking a very boozy version of a cross between a Glass of Cherry Coke, which is one of my favourite drinks, and a liquid version of the Cherry Drop Sweets that I used to eat as a Child. I did however notice that it tasted a lot more of Cherry the further down the Glass that I got though, and that I couldn’t really taste any of the Alcohol after the first couple of sips.

A tall silver metal Bucket full of some dark brown liquid, some whipped cream, some white marshmallows, a circular golden brown cookie dough ice cream sandwich and a thin black straw on a dark wooden table, on a white background.

The next thing that I had to drink was their Cookie Monster, Dooley’s Toffee Vodka, Amaretto, Captain Morgans Dark Rum, Cookie Dough Gomme, Cream and Milk served with an Ice Cream Cookie filled Sandwich.

I really liked this, as even though it was full of Alcohol, I thought that it just tasted like I was drinking a really creamy and sweet Cookie Milkshake. I also really liked that it came with an Ice Cream Cookie filled Sandwich, because as well as it being the perfect thing to be paired with the sweetness of the Drink, I thought that it had the perfect blend of being both soft and crunchy at the same time.

A tall cylindrical glass full of some bright yellow liquid, some clear ice cubes, a folded up refresher chew and a thin black straw on a dark wooden table, on a white background.

The last and final thing that I had to drink was their Refresher, Refresher Infused Vodka, Lemon Cello, Fresh Lemon Juice, Soda and Blue Curacao served with a Refresher.

I absolutely loved this, as even though I thought that it was incredibly sour and tasted like I was sucking on a slice of Lemon, it cut through all of the sweetness from my previous Drink brilliantly. I also really liked that even though it was full of Alcohol, that I couldn’t really taste any of it and could only really taste the sharp and bitterness of the Lemon Juice. Another thing that I really liked was that it came with a Refresher Chew on the top of it, because as well as it being the perfect thing to pair with the Drink, I haven’t eaten one in years.

Then once we had finally finished drinking all of our delicious Drinks, we just sat and chatted for a couple of minutes before we eventually decided that it was time to head off. So we grabbed our Coats and Bags, and headed off back into York to catch our Bus.

I had a fantastic time checking out some of the delicious and quirky Cocktails at Thomas’s of York, and if you’re looking for a great place to relax and drink some delicious Cocktails with a couple of friends, then I highly recommend that you check them out.

  1. I love quirky pubs and bars and love a good Espresso Martini. This pub is on my York list for when we visit next!
