As some of you may or may not know, I have incredibly thin hair, which means i’m always looking for products that will give me a little bit more thickness, so when TLC Naturals very kindly asked if I would like to try out their Grow It! Activating Hair Growth Gel, I of course said yes. Well i’ve been using it for a little while now, and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of it.
For those who don’t know, TLC Naturals is a company that specialise in luxurious artisan botanical hair and scalp solutions, that are freshly made in the UK. All of their products are made with high potency, minimally processed botanical ingredients, made in smaller batches to ensure freshness, potency, and effectiveness, rich in anti-oxidants, minerals, active enzymes, and nutrients, free from toxins, petrochemicals, synthetics, mineral oils, silicones, sulphates, carcinogens, toxins, and unnecessary harmful additives commonly found in most cosmetic hair and skincare products, and are also eco-friendly and cruelty free.
Here’s what TLC Naturals say about their Grow It! Activating Hair Growth Gel.
Designed to be applied directly to the scalp, the TLC Naturals Grow It! Activating Hair Growth Gel, is designed to penetrate down to the hair follicles quicker for more effective hair growth. This alcohol free gel is a water based serum-like product that soothes scalp inflammations, whilst jumpstarting and activating redundant hair follicles. It is similar to the TLC Naturals Grow It! Intense Hair Growth Serum in that it activates dead hair follicles to stimulate hair growth, increase hair density, and rejuvenate the hair, but is however different because it is made from quick acting botanicals, in a formula that is designed to work faster. It is also ideal for those who want a non-greasy way to reactivate scalp hair growth, and is also particularly useful for those with alopecia, male or female pattern baldness, and chemo-related hair loss.
This is also rich in plant proteins, peptides, silica, organic sulphur, and allantoin, which makes it ideal for those with slow hair growth, alopecia, thinning hair, premature baldness, and other hair growth problems, as well as also being suitable for all hair types, both men and women, and vegans.
I really liked the scent of this, as it kind of reminded me of a mix between Coconut Oil, Moss, and some kind of Menthol, which was strange as this contained neither any Coconut Oil or Menthol. I did however get why it smelt of Moss though, because as well as this containing Horse Chestnut Oil, SawPalmetto, and Black Seed Oil, it also contains Irish Moss as one of it’s key ingredients.
With this being a gel, I was expecting it to be rather thick and gloopy like a traditional gel would be, but this just felt like water, which was fantastic as I absolutely hate the thick gloopy texture that gel has.
The feeling of it in my hair.
I was expecting it to make my hair feel rather sticky and wet, but because of it’s water like consistency, once I had massaged it into my scalp, I couldn’t really tell that there was anything there. I was also expecting it to leave that hard crispy feeling that gel normally leaves once it has been in my hair for a little while, but it didn’t, which I thought was great, as I absolutely hate it when products make my hair feel hard and crispy.
Another thing that I liked about this was it’s packaging, as it came in a very tall cylindrical plastic bottle with a great pump that locked back into place once I had finished using it.
I normally like to keep my hair length a little longer than I would like, it’s mainly so that I can hide a few of the thinner parts of my hair with the thicker ones, but after using this for just over a month I was able to stop doing that and go back to the really short style that I prefer. I still have a couple of thinner spots, mainly near the back of my head, but I think that using this for a little longer will fix that, and I will eventually have the thick hair that I desire.
My overall thoughts.
Overall I would have to rate the TLC Naturals Grow It! Activating Hair Growth Gel a nine out of ten. I really liked this and thought that it gave excellent results, but I think that it’s a little overpriced for what it is, as a 150ml bottle of this will set you back a whopping £33. Other than that, I thought that it was amazing, and if you can afford it, I highly recommend that you check it out.
I was sent a bottle of the TLC Naturals Grow It! Activating Hair Growth Gel, to review, but all thoughts, opinions, and general ramblings are my own.
