The Smell Of Old Havana | Yankee Candle Viva Havana Collection

Yankee Candle have recently released their Viva Havana collection, which includes Cuban Mojito, Delicious Guava, Viva Havana, and Tobacco Flower, and being the candle addict that I am, as  soon as I had heard that they had been released, I of course had to pop down to my local Love Aroma and pick them all up. Well i’ve been burning them for a little while now, and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of them.

Here’s what Yankee Candle say about all four delicious scents.

Yankee Candle Cuban Mojito.

A chilled mix of Mint and Lime, that’s as refreshing as a tall, icy concoction on a tropical day. Yankee Candle Cuban Mojito also contains top notes of Lime, heart notes off cool Mint Accord, and base notes of Vanilla and Sugar Cane.

Yankee Candle Delicious Guava.

The delicious juicy taste of ripe Guava, filled with the luscious tropics. Yankee Candle Delicious Guava also contains top notes of Bergamot and Lemon, heart notes of Peach, Guava and Mango, and base notes of Sugar.

Yankee Candle Viva Havana.

A complex blend of Sandalwood and Spices, Vanilla and Nostalgia for old Havana. Yankee Candle Viva Havana also contains top notes of Incense, heart notes of Cinnamon, Clove, Nutmeg and Ginger, and base notes of Amber, Oud and Sandalwood.

Yankee Candle Tobacco Flower.

The spicy sweet, woody scent of Tobacco Flower. Yankee Candle Tobacco Flower also contains top notes of Ginger Root and Star Anise, base notes of Jasmine, Tobacco Flower and Bamboo Leaf, and base notes of Cedarwood and Tonka Bean.

The Yankee Candle Cuban Mojito.

It’s scent.

I really liked this, as I loved that it smelt so fresh and zesty, but I did think that it was missing something though, as it reminded me more of a Virgin Mojito rather than a traditional alcoholic Mojito.

It’s scent throw.

This was a little disappointing, as even though it smelt really zesty and fresh in it’s jar, it filled my room with a light and delicate scent that was only noticeable once I had gone out and had come back into the room again..

It’s scent throw.

It said that you were supposed to get up to 150 hours of burn time out of this, but as I always kept my wick trimmed, I easily got at least 165 hours of delicate Mojito scent out of it.

The Yankee Candle Delicious Guava.

It’s scent.

I was really disappointed with this, as I was expecting it to smell incredibly strongly of Guava, and unfortunately it didn’t. I could definitely smell the Lemon, Bergamot, Peach, and Mango though, but because these are all really powerful scents, the Guava itself kind of faded into the background. In my opinion, if something says it’s called Delicious Guava, I should actually be able to smell Guava.

It’s scent throw.

I was actually rather impressed with this, because as well as making my entire room smell incredible, it also filled the entire top floor of my house with a powerful fruity scent, that lasted for hours even after I had blown it out.

It’s burn time.

I think that this one had to be my least favourite of the entire collection, as it’s blend of Incense, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Clove, Ginger, and Sandalwood, were just a little bit too much on the spicy side for me.

It’s scent throw.

Even though I wasn’t a massive fan of it’s scent, it did fill my entire room with a powerful spicy scent that lasted for hours even after I had blown it out.

It’s scent.

Like the Yankee Candle Viva Havana, this wasn’t one of my favourites, as i’m more of a lover of citrus scents rather than spicy or woody ones, which this of course was. I did think that it’s blend of Ginger Root, Star Anise, Jasmine, Tobacco Flower, Bamboo Leaf, Cedarwood, and Tonka Bean, made for a gorgeous woody scent though, that would be absolutely perfect for a man’s bedroom.

Even though I wasn’t a massive fan of it’s scent, I did like that it filled my entire room with a delicate subtile scent, that grew on me the more I burnt it.

My overall thoughts.

Overall I would have to rate the Yankee Candle Cuban Mojito an eight point five out of ten, the Yankee Candle Delicious Guava an eight out of ten, the Yankee Candle Viva Havana a five point five out of ten, and the Yankee Candle Tobacco Flower a six out of ten. I really liked the Yankee Candle Cuban Mojito, as I loved it’s fresh and citrus scent, but I did think that it needed some kind of a boozy undertone to it. Even though I was a little disappointed with the Yankee Candle Delicious Guava, I did actually really like it, as I loved it’s strong fruity scent, and I think that it would be perfect to burn during those long hot Summer days. As I said, I just didn’t like either the Yankee Candle Viva Havana, or the Yankee Candle Tobacco Flower, as they were both just too spicy and woody for my taste, but if you like spicy and woody masculine scent’s, you’ll probably love them both.
