The Colours Of The Rainbow Tag

I was listening to the BBC Ouch podcast the other day trying to come up with another post for the RNIB’s #HowISee campaign which seeks to raise awareness about how 93% of people who are registered blind or partially sighted can see something, when the presenters started to talk about their favourite colours, as well as what colours meant to them. Well after thinking about it for a little while, I thought that I would tell you what they mean to me too, whilst also turning it into a little bit of a tag.

A bright natural rainbow shining down on some bright green grass and some sandy coloured land, on a bright background.

What are the rules?

The rules are pretty simple, just answer the ten questions below and nominate a few visually impaired people who you would also like to see answer the questions too.

Anyway, that’s enough of me rambling, here’s my answers.

1. What does Red mean to you?

To me it means being warm, crackling wood fires, flames, fire engines, and dying my hair during the Summer.

2. What does Yellow mean to you?

To me it means sunshine, being happy, Guide Dogs, and the smiley face logo’s that I used to see all over the place during the mid to late 90’s.

3. What does Pink mean to you?

To me it means Strawberry Hubba Bubba Bubblegum, Candy Floss from Wibsey Fair, Strawberry Milkshakes, and clean skin.

4. What does Green mean to you?

To me it means freshly cut Grass in my Nan and Grandad’s Garden, real Christmas Trees, the smell of fresh cut Apples, and my house, as a few of the rooms are painted various shades of Green.

5. What does Orange mean to you?

To me it means Sunsets at the end of a long hot Summer’s day, my favourite fragrance, Sun Lollies, and freshly squeezed Orange Juice.

6. What does Purple mean to you?

To me it means Grape scented gel pens, the smell of Lavender, and playing Spyro the Dragon on the Playstation One.

7. What does Blue mean to you?

To me it means a clear Sky on a nice day, the sound of waves crashing against the shoreline, the colour of my Eyes, Berol felt tip pens, and the colour of my bedroom during most of my teenage years.

8. What does Black mean to you?

To me it means the Sky at night, my first Cat called Smudge, and the Taxi that I used on my first visit to London.

9. What does White mean to you?

To me it means bright lights, the floaters that I get in my Eyes every so often, Ice Cubes, Polar Bears, Snow, my White Cane, clean Teeth, and the counter tops in my Kitchen.

10. What does Brown mean to you?

To me it means Wooden Picnic Tables, making a model Ferris Wheel at high school, pieces of Milk Chocolate, and the colour of my hair.

There you go, that’s what colours mean to me.

I’m now going to nominate a few visually impaired people who I would also like to see answer these questions too, so I tag…

Emily, Glen, Sassy, Gerry, and finally Molly, but if anyone else would like to answer these questions too, please do!

What do colours mean to you? What’s your favourite colour? Who else would you like to see answer these questions? Please let me know down below.
