As you probably already know, I absolutely love candles. I love the fact that a small pot of wax can fill my room with incredible smells that last for ages. The only problem is that eventually they stop lighting, and seeing as how I usually spend a good chunk of change on a wonderful smelling candle, it really annoys me when they stop lighting. That’s when I thought to myself, couldn’t I just make the left over wax at the bottom of the pretty jar into a wax melt? So I did, and I thought I would tell you how I did it. It’s actually extremely easy.
Here’s what you’ll need.
A used candle.
A butter knife.
A bowl.
Room in your freezer.
A wax melt burner.
A tealight.
Here’s what you do.
Once you’ve used up all your candle, and all you see at the bottom of the jar is a pool of wax, take the jar and stick it in your freezer, and leave it for about 24 hours.
After about 24 hours, take your candle jar out of the freezer, and with your butter knife, start chipping the wax away from the jar. It will start coming off it big chunks at first but keep going until you’ve got all of the wax off of the jar. This will take a little bit of force, and a little bit of time, but keep going.
Place all the chunks of wax in your bowl.
Place the chunks of wax in your bowl into the bowl of your melt warmer and light a tea light under it.
Let all the wax melt until its all combined together in your melt warmer bowl and blow out your tea light.
Once the wax has all set, you have your brand new wax melt of your favourite candle.
You can pretty much do this with what ever candle you have, but any candles made with soya wax will be a little trickier to remove from the jar.
I love doing this with left over wax as I basically get to keep that gorgeous smell going for longer.
