I’ve never really been that big of a fan of gourmand-smelling Fragrances, but strangely i’ve been absolutely loving anything sweet and creamy smelling lately. That’s why when the guys over at Lush very kindly asked me if I would like to try a Bottle of The Old Songs Are Waking Body Spray from their x Community Fragrance 2024 range that includes four Body Sprays and three Perfumes, I of course said yes. Well i’ve been wearing it for a little while now, and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of it.

A scent that spans the ages.
The sweet layer of our Alina Fragrance deserves its own Stage. Spritz this sweet, sugary, Candy scent with the balsamic undertone of Olibanum Resinoid and feel like you’re returning Home and into the Arms of loved ones. Inspired by the passing down of knowledge from generation to generation with the layering of gourmand Tonka, warm Vanilla and fresh and fruity Bergamot.
What’s in it for you?
The comforting, familiar scent of Vanilla welcomes you back and gets to work relaxing the senses.
Tonka adds a subtle warmth and sweetness.
Leaving the World Lusher than we found it.
Organic Ethanol helps this Fragrance last longer on your Skin and supports Biodiversity on the ground. It’s made from Regeneratively Farmed Sugar Cane produced with Renewable Energy in Brazil.
The sweet-smelling Tonka Bean is picked from the Forest Floor to generate income for communities of the Amazon Forest.
How to use.
Spritz all over the Body, avoiding the Underarm area, for a homely Sweet-Shop Aroma.
How to store.
Store your Body Spray somewhere cool and out of direct Sunlight between uses.
We use Alcohol to get this Fragrance from the Bottle to your Skin. Avoid getting hot under the Collar by taking care around Naked Flames and sources of ignition.
It’s scent.
I absolutely loved it’s scent, as even though it contained Organic Alcohol Denat, Water, Fragrance, Glycerine, Tonka Absolute, Vanilla Absolute, Bergamot Oil, Olibanum Resinoid, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Anise Alcohol, Benzyl Cinnamate, Cinnamyl Alcohol, Citral, Citronellol, Coumarin, Farnesol, Geraniol, Limonene, and Linalool, I thought that it had a delicious sweet and creamy yet ever so slightly fruity Vanilla scent to it that kind of reminded me of eating a Drumstick Lolly in a very busy Sweet Shop on a balmy Spring Afternoon. ,
It’s longevity.
I really liked how long this lasted on my Skin, as I sprayed a little bit of it on to my Wrists, Neck and Clothes when I was getting ready at about eight o’clock in the Morning, and I could still faintly smell it on my Skin when I sat down to have a Cup of Tea at about three o’clock in the Afternoon.
It’s packaging.
I wasn’t really a massive fan of it’s packaging, as even though this came in a tall Black Plastic Kitchen Spray Bottle that looked beautiful sat on my Beauty Shelves, they’ve unfortunately recently changed the Spray Mechanism of their Body Spray Bottles so that once you’ve sprayed it it locks and you have to wait a couple of seconds before you can spray it again.
My overall thoughts.
Overall I would have to rate the Lush The Old Songs Are Waking Body Spray an eight point five out of ten. I absolutely loved it’s delicious sweet and creamy yet ever so slightly fruity Vanilla scent, and it’s longevity, but I just wish that it had come in some easier to use packaging and that it had also smelt a little bit more of Bergamot.
