Five Things I Hate About Lush

From their incredibly delicious scents to their cool and quirky products, and even their ethos, I absolutely love Lush. But there’s quite a lot of things that I hate about them too, and I thought that I would tell you five of them.

Anyway, that’s enough of me rambling, here’s five things that I hate about Lush.

1. That they constantly release new products.

I love trying out new products, but the rate that they release new products at is unlike any other company on the Planet. So far in 2020 they’ve released a Body Spray range, a Florence Perfume range, a Valentines Day range, a Mother’s Day range, an  Easter range, a Father’s Day range, and a 30th Anniversary Bubble Bar range, which as you can see is quite a lot. They also highly promote the you need to buy it now as it wont be here for long philosophy, which when you’re a massive Lush fan like me, can become quite overwhelming and expensive. Because if you don’t buy something the second that it’s released, you’ll probably never see it again.

2. That they frequently discontinue beloved products without telling anyone.

I get that some products may not be selling as well as they had hoped which means that they have to discontinue them to make way for other products that might sell a little bit better, but it would be nice if they told their customers what they were going to discontinue and when it would be happening so that the people who love a particular product can stock up on it before it’s gone forever. Quite a few times i’ve popped into my local Store to pick up one of my favourite products, only to be met with an empty Shelf and Sales Assistants that have no idea whether or not something has been discontinued as they don’t get told either.

3. That they have no Social Media presence.

At one point they were very active on Social Media, but they in their infinite wisdom decided to delete their main Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts and instead opted for each Store to have their own individual Social Media accounts to promote what was happening in their Stores. Now in theory this sounds like a great idea, but unfortunately not every Store regularly posts content so you end up missing out on quite a lot of information like the launch of new products and when your local store will have things back in stock.

4. That they operate very pushy Sales Tactics.

One of the main things that makes me really hesitant to visit a physical store is the Sales Assistants, as even though they’re extremely friendly and knowledgable about what they’re selling, they are very, very pushy. I know I attract quite a lot of attention by swishing a massive Red Cane about, but that doesn’t mean that I want them to pounce on me as soon as I enter the Store, and even though I say “if I need anything i’ll ask”, I can pretty much guarantee that within a matter of minutes another Staff Member will have pounced upon me asking me the exact same questions. Now I know that it’s not their fault that they do this as a lot of them have been trained to do it, but it would be great if they could just let me browse in peace and understand that if I need anything, i’ll shout.

5. That they constantly raise their prices.

I get that they’re a company and their main priority is to make Money, but raising their prices every couple of months is incredibly irritating. Now I know that some of the ingredients that they use in their products are constantly fluctuating in price so that they have to raise their prices inline with the cost of ingredients. But when the ingredients have gone back down in price, it would be nice if they returned it to it’s previous price so that I don’t feel like i’m being ripped off. It used to be an affordable company, but with them raising their prices every couple of months it feels like they’re trying to turn themselves into a luxury Cosmetics Company, and in my opinion, are totally alienating their very, very loyal Customers.

There are a lot more things that I hate about Lush, but I thought that I would just tell you five of them.

Do you love Lush too? Is there anything that you hate about them? What would you change about the company if you were in charge for a day? Please let me know down below.

  1. We love Lush but completely agree on the prices. We wish it were more affordable. Then, we would go more often!

  2. I hear you! I am also a fan of LUSH but they’ve discontinued the shampoo bar that I loved.
