I’m always trying to eat more healthily, but one of the things that I really struggle with definitely has to be Snacks as they unfortunately always end up tasting incredibly boring and bland. That’s why when the guys over at Low Kal very kindly asked me if I would like to try one of their 7 Item Surprise Mini Snack Boxes that contains a range of healthy and delicious Snacks including Vegan, Gluten Free, and Lactose Free Snacks, I of course said yes. Well i’ve been munching my way through it for a little while now, and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of it.

The Banana Joe Hickory Barbecue Crisps.
I absolutely loved these, as even though I was expecting them to taste really fruity given that they were essentially just little pieces of Freeze-Dried Banana, I thought that they tasted really meaty and had an incredibly sweet and smokey Barbecue taste to them that kind of reminded me of the Texas BBQ Sauce Pringles. I also really liked that they were extremely crunchy, and that they had an ever so slightly spicy aftertaste to them that made them incredibly moreish.
The Delicious Ideas Sugar Free Fruit Gums.
I really liked these, as even though they were essentially just a healthier version of the Haribo Giant Strawberries, I thought that they had a delicious sweet and creamy Strawberry taste to them that kind of reminded me of drinking a really creamy Strawberry Milkshake. I also really liked that even though they were called Fruit Gums, that they were extremely chewy and were perfect for when I needed a little bit of a quick pick me up.
The Doisy & Dam Hazelnut Butter Cups.
I wasn’t really a massive fan of these, as even though I thought that they had a delicious sweet and creamy Chocolate and Hazelnut taste to them, they also had a very strange bitter and burnt Coffee aftertaste to them which I thought was a little bit weird. Plus, as i’m not a massive fan of anything that tastes of Coffee, after I had tried one of them I had to give the rest to someone else to eat.
The Doisy & Dam Maca, Vanilla & Cacao Dark Chocolate Impulse.
I really liked these, as even though i’m not usually a massive fan of Dark Chocolate, I thought that they had a delicious deep and creamy yet ever so slightly sweet Dark Chocolate taste to them that kind of reminded me of biting into a Lindt Excellence 90% Cocoa Dark Chocolate Bar. I also really liked that once you had swallowed one of them that you got a very strong hit of Vanilla that took away any of the bitterness from the Dark Chocolate, and that they came in a little pouch that I could throw in my Bag at the beginning of the day for when I inevitably needed something Sweet at about 3PM.
The I Love Snacks 70% Cocoa Dark Belgian Chocolate.
I really liked this, as even though it was a little bit on the small side, I thought that it had a delicious deep and bitter yet ever so slightly creamy Dark Chocolate taste to it that was perfect to have after Dinner as a little treat.
The Mighty Fine Chocolate & Honeycomb Bar.
I absolutely loved this, as even though i’m not usually a massive fan of Honeycomb as it tends to get stuck in my Teeth, I thought that it had a delicious sweet and creamy yet ever so slightly chocolaty Honeycomb taste to it that kind of reminded me of a higher quality version of a Cadbury’s Crunchie Bar. I also really liked that it didn’t end up burning my Throat like Honeycomb strangely sometimes does, and that when I bit into it that it had an excellent amount of crunch to it.
The Snact Fruit Jerky Apple & Raspberry.
I really liked these, as even though they were called a Fruit Jerky, I thought that they were more like an extremely thin piece of Fruit Chew that kind of reminded me of a dried out Kelloggs Fruit Winder. I also thought that they had a delicious fresh and fruity yet ever so slightly floral Apple taste to them that kind of reminded me of eating a freshly picked Apple. Unfortunately I couldn’t really taste any of the Raspberry though, which was a little bit of a shame as it would have been nice to have some that tasted of a different flavour instead of them just all tasting of Apple.
It’s packaging.
I really liked it’s packaging, as everything came securely wrapped inside a Plastic Bag inside of a really thick Cardboard Box that meant none of the things inside arrived broken or missing.
My overall thoughts.
Overall I would have to rate the Low Kal 7 Item Surprise Mini Snack Box a nine out of ten. I absolutely loved everything that came in my Box especially the Banana Joe Hickory Barbecue Crisps and the Mighty Fine Chocolate & Honeycomb Bar, it’s packaging, and that you never entirely know what you will be getting inside your Box, but I just wish that some of the Snacks that were inside my Box had come in bigger sizes as a lot of them always left me wanting just a little bit more.
