It’s the first Monday of the month everyone, which means that it’s time for another Shine The Spotlight, and as part of my 10 years celebration of Shine The Spotlight, I thought that as well as me highlighting some of my favourite Blogs from the past ten years that are still around and still going strong, that I would also highlight some of my favourite Charities that i’ve highlighted over the past ten years and that could still really do with your support.
Anyway, that’s enough of me rambling, here’s five of my favourite Charities that I highlighted between 2017 and 2019.
First up has to be, Guide Dogs.
With it currently costing just under £55,000 to train a Guide Dog from birth to being partnered with a Blind or Visually Impaired person, Guide Dogs could really do with your support to train more Guide Dogs to be a Blind or Visually Impaired person’s saviour. Plus with me being on the waiting list for my very own life-changing Guide Dog, they’re obviously very close to my Heart.
Next up has to be, Crisis.
With an estimated 271,000 people currently being Homeless in the UK, Crisis could really do with your support to get more Homeless people off of the streets. They’re also running their Crisis At Christmas Campaign again this year, where for just £29.73, you can give a Homeless person a warm welcome and good company, three nutritious hot meals including a Christmas Dinner, a Bed for the night if they need one, a chance to shower, freshen up and get some clean Clothes, a Health check from a Doctor, Optician and Dentist, expert help with Mental Health and Addiction problems, advice on housing, employment and benefits, and a way out of Homelessness for good through their year round training, education and support services.
Next up has to be, PDSA.
With our Pets being a massive part of our Family, PDSA could really do with your support to provide Emergency Veterinary Care from one of their 48 Pet Hospitals for people in Financial difficulty or Social Hardship, as well as being a leading authority on Pet Health and Wellbeing, raising awareness of Pet Obesity, raising the status of Animals, and celebrating the contributions that our Pets make to our lives. Plus with them being such a massive help when I unfortunately lost Riley last year, including his multiple Vet visits, me making the decision to finally put him to sleep, and even his Cremation, the PDSA is obviously very close to my Heart.
Next up has to be, Gallop.
With one in five LGBTQ people experiencing some kind of Hate Crime because of their Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity in the past twelve months, Galop could really do with your support to support LGBT people who have experienced a Hate Crime, Sexual Violence or Domestic Abuse as well as Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and Queer people who have had problems with the Police or have questions about the Criminal Justice System.
The last and final Charity for this months Shine The Spotlight has to be, RNIB.
With over 2,000,000 people currently living with sight loss in the Uk, RNIB is an incredible resource that helps both Blind and partially sighted people with every aspect of their lives. But at the moment they’re unfortunately only able to help and support one in three Blind and Partially Sighted people, which means that they could really do with your support to help even more Blind and Partially Sighted people in their day to day lives. Plus, with me also being Blind myself, RNIB is obviously very close to my Heart.
