WoodWick Candles have recently released their Autumn 2019 collection, which includes Black Plum Cognac, Rosewood, and Sacred Smoke, and being the Candle addict that I am, as soon as I had heard that they had been released, I obviously had to hop onto their website and check them out. Well after checking everything out, I eventually picked up the Black Plum Cognac, and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of it.
Here’s what WoodWick Candles say about their Black Plum Cognac.
The essence of succulent Black Plum and blackberry soaked in delicious Cognac. WoodWick Candles Black Plum Cognac also contains top notes of Bergamot, Blackcurrant, Cassis, Mandarin, Anise and Blackberry, heart notes of Black Plum, Espresso Bean, Cognac, Red Pear and Winter Jasmine, and base notes of Dark Vanilla, Rich Amber, Patchouli and Vetiver.
I was a little bit disappointed with it’s scent to be honest, as even though it was called Black Plum Cognac, I was kind of expecting it to have a deep and fruity Plum scent instead of having a delicious sweet and floral yet ever so slightly fruity and alcoholic Plum scent to it that kind of reminded me of walking through a Vineyard during Spring. I could definitely smell the Blackcurrant, Cassis, Blackberry, Black Plum, Cognac, Winter Jasmin, Dark Vanilla, Rich Amber, Patchouli, and Vetiver, as I thought that they were all what gave it it’s delicious sweet and floral yet ever so slightly fruity and alcoholic Plum scent, but I couldn’t really smell any of the Bergamot, Mandarin, Anise, Espresso, or Red Pear, as I thought that all of the other scents kind of overpowered them a little.
It’s scent throw.
I really liked it’s scent throw, as this managed to fill both my room and the entire top floor of my House with it’s delicious sweet and floral yet ever so slightly fruity and alcoholic Plum scent that lasted for hours even after I had blown it out.
It’s burn time.
It said that you were supposed to get up to 180 hours of burn time out of this, but as I always kept my Wick trimmed, I easily got at least 200 hours of delicious sweet and floral yet ever so slightly fruity and alcoholic Plum scent out of it. I also really liked that it’s Wick crackled as it burnt, as I found it’s crackling sound to be really relaxing.
My overall thoughts.
Overall I would have to rate the WoodWick Candles Black Plum Cognac an eight out of ten. I absolutely loved it’s delicious sweet and floral yet ever so slightly fruity and alcoholic Plum scent, it’s scent throw, it’s burn time, and that it’s Wick crackled while it burnt. But given that it was called Black Plum Cognac, it would have been nice if it had actually smelt of deep and fruity Plum rather than sweet and floral yet ever so slightly fruity and alcoholic Plum.
