One of my favourite hobbies definitely has to be Shopping, whether that’s for myself, just Window Shopping, or Shopping for a Gift for someone else. Unfortunately though, most Shopping Platforms aren’t that accessible, especially if you’re Blind or Visually Impaired. That’s why when the guys over at Innosearch AI very kindly asked me if I would like to try out their Accessible Shopping Platform, I of course said yes. Well i’ve been using it for a little while now, and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of it.

It’s layout.
I really liked it’s layout, as even though the Site as a whole looks pretty basic, I really liked how clutter-free it was and that it was really easy to navigate using the Navigation Bar at the top of the screen, including that the Search Bar never moved no matter how far I scrolled down the Page. I also really liked that even though they had a couple of Promotional Banners in the Navigation Bar, including one telling you that new Customers can get a discount off of their first purchase and another telling you that they currently have Free Delivery and Returns, that it just blended into the Navigation Bar and didn’t interfere with my Screen Reader. Another thing that I really liked about it’s layout, was that they put all of the information that you need next to the product listing instead of having to go on to another page, including when you can expect to have it delivered, it’s retailer, people’s overall rating, it’s current price, and any other prices that it’s been in the past.
It’s accessibility features.
I really liked it’s accessibility features, as with them featuring thousands of products from lots of different retailers I was kind of expecting it to be really inaccessible, especially when it comes to Product Images. But there’s a little Describe Image Button next to each Product Picture that triggers their inbuilt AI service to describe it to you.
It’s selection of products.
I really liked it’s selection of products, as they basically had everything that you could ever want or need, including Car Accessories, DIY & Tools, Health & Beauty, Fashion, Food & Drink, Homeware, Technology, and much, much more. In my mind it’s basically the Blind and Visually Impaired version of Amazon.
How easy it was to order something.
I really liked how easy it was to order something, as I could add things from multiple different retailers to my Basket and just check out once I had finished. I didn’t have to log in to multiple different Retailer Accounts or be asked multiple times if I wanted to add anything else to my Basket. I also really liked that it’s in built AI Service, the same thing that operates the Describe Images Feature, recommended things that I would like as I was Shopping and was actually quite specific rather than just pushing things that were on sale and had absolutely nothing to do with what I was buying. Another thing that I really liked, was how secure it was, as they use Stripe as their Secure Payment Service which meant that I knew that my Banking Details were totally safe and wouldn’t be kept on some kind of File somewhere.
My overall thoughts.
Overall I would have to rate Innosearch AI, a nine out of ten. I absolutely loved it’s layout, it’s accessibility features, it’s massive range of products, and how easy it was to order something, but I just wish that it was available in some other countries, as even though it’s currently available in Australia, Canada, the UK, and the USA, I think that it would be fantastic if Blind and Visually Impaired users throughout the World could use it.
