This Shit Is Bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S! | Lush Banana Haircare Range | Gifted

I’ve never really been a massive fan of Protein-Rich Haircare ranges, as they tend to leave my Hair feeling incredibly dry, crispy and dehydrated. But since trying some of the Lush Super Milk Haircare range, i’ve found that my Hair does in fact like a Protein-Rich Shampoo and Conditioner from time to time to help it to stay as silky soft, hydrated and healthy as it possibly can. That’s why when the guys over at Lush very kindly asked me if I would like to try some of their Banana Haircare range that’s part of their The Lush Version range, that takes some old formulations from their past and reworks them for a modern audience, I of course said yes. Well i’ve been using them for a little while now, and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of them.

Here’s what Lush say about both fantastic products.

The Lush Banana Shampoo.

Best of the Bunch for Processed Hair.
Behind every strong Head of Hair, there’s a great Shampoo. For Dry Hair you can do no better than this blend of intensely softening ingredients to bring moisture, shine, volume and strength. We blend over 45% Sea Salt with Fresh Banana and Sugar Cane Molasses to make a Smoothie for your Locks and add softening Oils to support Tensile Strength and shine. Lovely for Hair that’s had more Hair Drying than you’ve had hot Dinners.
Introducing The Lush Version, a fresh take on treasured favourites. Take a trip back in time with us to revisit some iconic formulas from the past and some of our own creations that we bet you never knew about. We’ve picked much-loved formulas back up, dusted them off, and reformulated them for a new era.

What’s in it for you?

  • Made with over 5% Molasses, which are a rich source of Inositol, a Sugar that’s a popular supplement to boost Hair health.
  • Made with softening Linseed and Organic Brazil Nut Oils to lightly coat the Hair Fibre and help it spring back when under stress from styling and brushing.
  • Exfoliating sea Salt cleanses the Scalp and lifts away residue from the Roots.

Made with Sea Salt from Salt Pans that protect Birdlife Biodiversity.
Contains Organic Brazil Nut Oil from a supplier that’s reforesting Brazil Nut Forests in Peru, and supporting Families in Madre de Dios, Peru.

How to use.

Work through Wet Hair then rinse and condition. If your Hair is short, or you still want to keep some volume, use it sparingly (we suggest a dollop about the size of a 50p piece). Longer or thicker Hair may like a little more.

How to store.

Store with the Lid closed in between uses.

The Lush Banana Conditioner.

So a-peel-ing for Dry Hair.
A Conditioner that does the heavy lifting without feeling heavy? Yes, that’s right. This luscious little Conditioner for Dry Hair will help processed Locks bounce back from breaking point with moisture and volume. The secret is our nourishing Fresh Banana, Agar and Soya Yoghurt blend, whipped up, of course, with lovely Oils and creamy Butters for shine, strength and softness.

The Lush Banana Shampoo.

It’s scent.

I absolutely loved it’s scent, as even though it contained Coarse Sea Salt, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Linseed Gel, Lemon Balm Infusion, Molasses, Fresh Organic Fair Trade Bananas, Lauryl Betaine, Tonka Seed Extract, Vanilla Extract, Organic Brazil Nut Oil, Cupuaçu Butter, Linseed oil, Coumarin, and Fragrance, I thought that it had a delicious creamy and fruity yet ever so slightly musky Banana scent to it that kind of reminded me of the scent you smell whenever you mush up a perfectly-ripened Banana.

It’s consistency.

I really liked it’s consistency, as even though it was called a Shampoo, I thought that it felt incredibly thin and watery yet ever so slightly gritty, and was more like an incredibly thin and watery yet ever so slightly gritty Shower Scrub rather than a thin and watery yet ever so slightly gelatinous Shampoo.

What it did when I used it.

I really liked what this did when I used it, as once I had started to massage a little bit of it into my Hair, it turned from an incredibly thin and watery yet ever so slightly gritty Shower Scrub into a thin and frothy Shampoo with little pieces of Sea Salt running through it that spread really easily through my Hair.

It’s results.

I absolutely loved it’s results, as not only did this leave my Hair and Scalp feeling incredibly squeaky clean, silky soft, smooth, refreshed, thicker, plump, bouncy, moisturised and intensely hydrated, but it also left my Hair looking extremely volumised, a lot shinier, much healthier and smelling of delicious creamy and fruity yet ever so slightly musky Banana for hours after I had used it.

It’s packaging.

I really liked it’s packaging, as this came in a tall cylindrical White Plastic Tub with a screw top Lid that looked beautiful sat on my Beauty Shelves.

It’s scent.

I absolutely loved it’s scent, as even though it contained Agar Agar Gel, Water, Propylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Almond Milk, Cetearyl Alcohol & Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Fresh Organic Fair Trade Bananas, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Fragrance, Organic Argan Oil, Cupuaçu Butter, Organic Soya Yogurt, Tonka Seed Extract, Vanilla Extract, Cetrimonium Chloride, Coumarin, Methylparaben, and Propylparaben, I thought that it had a delicious creamy and fruity yet ever so slightly sweet Banana scent to it that kind of reminded me of the scent you smell whenever you mush up a perfectly-ripened Banana.

It’s consistency.

I really liked it’s consistency, as even though it was called a Conditioner, I thought that it felt incredibly thick and creamy yet ever so slightly balmy, and was more like an incredibly thick and creamy yet ever so slightly balmy Body Soufflé rather than a thick and creamy yet ever so slightly oily Conditioner.

I absolutely loved it’s results, as not only did this leave my Hair and Scalp feeling incredibly squeaky clean, silky soft, smooth, soothed, refreshed, thicker, plump, bouncy, hydrated and intensely moisturised, but it also left my Hair looking extremely volumised, a lot shinier, much healthier and smelling of delicious creamy and fruity yet ever so slightly sweet Banana for hours after I had used it.

My overall thoughts.

Overall I would have to rate the Lush Banana Shampoo an eight point five out of ten, and the Lush Banana Conditioner a nine out of ten. I really liked the Lush Banana Shampoo, as I absolutely loved it’s delicious creamy and fruity yet ever so slightly malty Banana scent, it’s consistency, what it did when I used it, it’s results, and it’s packaging, but I just wish that they had a version that didn’t contain Course Sea Salt so that I could use it every time that I washed my Hair. I really liked the Lush Banana Conditioner, as I absolutely loved it’s delicious creamy and fruity yet ever so slightly sweet Banana scent, it’s consistency, what it did when I used it, it’s results, and it’s packaging, but I just wish that it was available in a much smaller Pot, as I tend to Double Cleanse my Hair and usually end up finishing the Shampoo a lot sooner than I finish the Conditioner.
If you would like to check out any of the Lush Banana Haircare Range for yourselves, then you can either pop into your local Lush store, or you can find it online here.
I was very kindly sent a Tub of Lush Banana Shampoo, and a Tub of Lush Banana Conditioner to review, but all thoughts, opinions, and general ramblings are my own.
