Even though quite a lot of people were baffled when Lush released a Tricks range, as having an entire range inspired by Joke Shop Gifts was a bit strange, I actually really liked it because I thought that it harked back to when they were releasing some really cool, quirky and just down-right weird products during the late 2010s. That’s why when I had heard that they had released a Tricks 2026 range containing some new and returning Joke Shop Gift products, including a Colour-Changing Lipstick, a Dry Shampoo, some Shower Gels, some Shower Gummies and a Soap, I obviously had to pop down to my local Lush store and check everything out. Well after giving everything a good sniff, I eventually picked up a Packet of Banana Bread Mouthwash Tabs, and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of them.

Here’s what Lush say about their Banana Bread Mouthwash Tabs.
Wake & … Cake!
Who said you can’t have your Cake and swish with it too? Baked up with our trusty Sodium Bicarbonate Base so you can wake up and smell the Banana Bread, and fresh Breath! Now, lean into that Handshake with confidence, showstopper!
Product Inventor Gary cooked up some other fun flavours for this Tricks range, including Hawaiian Pizza and a certain Spread you’d be inclined to like or loathe. “We ended up going for a much more palatable flavour that most people would like, unless you don’t like Bananas, that is!”
What’s in it for you?
- Ideal for Breath you’ll go Bananas for!
- Cinnamon Leaf Oil, creates a spicy depth.
- Vanilla Absolute, gourmand warmth that evokes the aroma of a Homemade Treat.
- A hint of Menthol, keeps your Breath feeling clean and fresh, but don’t worry, you won’t taste it!
Leaving the World Lusher than we found it.
Our Almond Essential Oil is derived from Bitter Almonds and sourced from producers in Morocco. During Production, some Processors allow the Nut to ferment slightly before pressing, while others extract the Oil immediately. This Process differs from that of Sweet Almond Oil!
We source Vanilla Beans directly from Producers in Uganda and Tanzania, working with Partners who prioritise Smallholder Farmer Livelihoods.
How to use.
Pop one into your Mouth neat with a sip of Water. Nibble and crush the Tab and swill before spitting out and rinsing. Best used fresh to guarantee the fizz.
How to store.
Store these somewhere cool and dry until you want to freshen up. These are best used fresh, so try not to expose them to Air and keep them wrapped up.
Their taste.
I really liked their taste, as even though they contained Dicalcium Phosphate Anhydrous, Sodium Bicarbonate, Silica, Citric Acid, Sorbitol, Malic Acid, Glycerin, Stevia, Xylitol, Flavour, Cocoa Extract, Cinnamon Leaf Oil, Almond Essential Oil), Vanilla Extract, Menthol Crystals, Gardenia Extract, and Eugenol, I thought that they had a delicious sweet and fruity yet ever so slightly buttery Banana Bread taste to them that kind of reminded me if someone had smothered a Slice of freshly-made Banana Bread in a layer of thick Unsalted Butter.
Their consistency.
I really liked their consistency, as even though they were called a Mouthwash Tab, I thought that they felt incredibly soft and crumbly yet ever so slightly crunchy, and were more like an incredibly soft and crumbly yet ever so slightly crunchy piece of Biscuit rather than a hard and crunchy yet ever so slightly crumbly Mouthwash Tab.
What they did when I used them.
I really liked what these did when I used them, as once I had crunched one of them between my Teeth and had added a little bit of Water to them, they turned from an incredibly soft and crumbly yet ever so slightly crunchy piece of Biscuit into a thin and watery yet ever so slightly fizzy Mouthwash that was really easy to swish around my Mouth. I also really liked that once I had dissolved them in about 20ml of Water from my Bathroom Tab and had waited a couple of minutes, that they turned into a thin and watery yet ever so slightly creamy Liquid Mouthwash that was really easy to swish around my Mouth.
Their results.
I absolutely loved their results, as not only did these leave my Mouth feeling incredibly squeaky clean and my Breath feeling really fresh, but they also left my Teeth looking much brighter and my Mouth tasting of delicious sweet and fruity yet ever so slightly buttery Banana Bread for at least ten minutes after I had used them.
their packaging.
I wasn’t really a massive fan of their packaging, as even though these came in a tall rectangular Paper Pouch that looked beautiful sat on my Beauty Shelves, because there was no way to reseal it again, I found that quite a few of them went rather soft after a couple of days of me opening them.
My overall thoughts.
Overall I would have to rate the Lush Banana Bread Mouthwash Tabs an eight out of ten. I absolutely loved their delicious sweet and fruity yet ever so slightly buttery Banana Bread taste, their consistency, what they did when I used them, and their results, but I just wish that they had come in a Plastic Tub with a screw top Lid like a lot of the other Mouthwash Tabs that i’ve tried in the past have done so that they stayed as fresh as possible. I also wish that they had tasted a little bit more of Banana instead of sweet and fruity yet ever so slightly buttery Banana Bread.
