Whenever I have a Breakout, one of my favourite products to use definitely has to be The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution, as I love how quickly it manages to get rid of any kind of Blemish that I have, especially those that are still lingering underneath my Skin. Unfortunately though, I haven’t been able to get my Hands on it for quite a while now, as they’ve been reformulating it so that people with Sensitive Skin can use it too. That’s why when I had heard that The Ordinary had released a Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution that claims to deeply cleanse congested Pores without causing any Skin irritation, I obviously had to hop on to their Website and pick it up. Well i’ve been using it for a little while now, and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of it.

Here’s what The Ordinary say about their Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution.
The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution is a water-free product formulated to exfoliate the Skin and help decongest Pores. Direct Acids, specifically Alpha Hydroxy Acids, AHAs, and Beta Hydroxy Acids, BHAs, are renowned for their ability to support the natural shedding of Dead Skin. While AHAs aim to promote superficial exfoliation, Salicylic Acid, a lipophilic BHA, is particularly effective at targeting Oil within the Pores that can lead to congestion. The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution offers Salicylic Acid in a Squalane base formulated with the intent of reducing concerns of Skin irritation that can be associated with the use of Salicylic Acid.

It’s scent.
I wasn’t really a massive fan of it’s scent, as even though it contained Squalane, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Pentylene Glycol, Salicylic Acid, Oleic/Linoleic/Linolenic Polyglycerides, 4-T-Butylcyclohexanol, Hydroxymethoxyphenyl Decanone, Phenoxyethanol, and Chlorphenesin, I thought that it had a very strange deep and nutty yet ever so slightly musky Cardboard scent to it that kind of reminded me of if someone had poured an entire Jug of Water over a massive piece of Cardboard.
It’s consistency.
I really liked it’s consistency, as even though it was called a Salicylic Acid Solution, I thought that it felt incredibly thick and oily yet ever so slightly balmy, and was more like an incredibly thick and oily yet ever so slightly balmy Facial Oil rather than a thin and watery yet ever so slightly balmy Salicylic Acid Solution.
What it did when I used it.
I really liked what this did when I used it, as once I had started to massage a little bit of it into my Skin, it turned from an incredibly thick and oily yet ever so slightly balmy Facial Oil into a thin and oily yet ever so slightly balmy Facial Oil that sank into my Skin within a matter of seconds.
It’s results.
I absolutely loved it’s results, as not only did this leave my Skin feeling incredibly silky soft, smooth, plump, bouncy, hydrated and intensely moisturised, but it also left it looking extremely glowing, radiant, clear and much healthier for hours after I had used it. I also really liked that it managed to significantly reduce the size or completely get rid of any Blemishes that I had within two or three days of me continuously using it.
It’s packaging.
I really liked it’s packaging, as this came in a short cylindrical Glass Bottle with a Rubber Pipette Lid that looked beautiful sat on my Beauty Shelves.
My overall thoughts.
Overall I would have to rate The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution a nine out of ten. I absolutely loved it’s incredibly thick and oily yet ever so slightly balmy consistency, what it did when I used it, it’s results, and it’s packaging, but I just wasn’t a massive fan of it’s very strange deep and nutty yet ever so slightly musky Cardboard scent.
