A little while ago, I took part in the Kiehls Blogs Twitter chat, and as a little thanks for taking part, Kiehls very kindly sent me a few of their products to try out. I’ve been using them for a little while now, and I thought it was about time that I told you what I think of them.
Kiehls very kindly sent me, the Kiehls Grapefruit Bath and Shower Liquid Body Cleanser, the Kiehls Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution, the Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream, and the Kiehls Super Multi Corrective Cream SPF 30.
The Kiehls Grapefruit Bath and Shower Liquid Body Cleanser, is described as being formulated with Humectants to help skin maintain it’s moisture, and can be used either in the bath or shower to leave skin clean with a lovely texture. It also comes in many other gorgeous smelling scents, like Coriander and Pour Homme.
I absolutely love this. It does smell of Grapefruit, but it’s extremely subtle and has more of a Citrus meadow kind of scent. I can definitely smell a few grassy notes in there. The best way to describe this is that it’s more like a grown up masculine version of the Soap & Glory Orangeasm. I especially like using this in the morning as it has that fresh zesty scent that just makes you wake up, whether you want to or not. Even though the Grapefruit in this is extremely subtle, the scent lasts all day, and I could still smell it on me when I got into bed at night.
The consistancy of this is very interesting. It just feels like water, but once I started to massage it into my skin, it turned into a thick lathery foam that covered my skin in light creamy bubbles. Even though it feels like water, I only needed a little to cover my entire body, which is amazing.
The packaging is great too, as it’s a tall thin bottle with one of those click to close lids, which is perfect as it won’t leak anywhere. This is great as it keeps the amazing scent within the bottle rather than it going into the air.
The Kiehls Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution, is described as being specially formulated with Activated C and Peony extract, to penetrate the skin rapidly to reduce the appearance of skin discolourationns, and to guarantee healthy revitalitised skin.
This has a very potent earthy, yet essential oil scent. It basically smells like a herb garden, but with a whole host of essential oils thrown in for good measure, which I absolutely love. The scent, though potent, disappears within seconds, which is great as I didn’t want it to interfere with the scents of some of the other face products I was using.
The texture of this, is again like water, but it is after all essentially a serum, so if it didn’t feel like water it would be a little strange. This means that it only takes a few seconds for it to sink into my skin, which is perfect, as I absolutely hate the feeling of a face full of oil.
This says that it’s supposed to combat the signs of skin discolouration, and I have to say, it does what it says on the tin, well rather the bottle. I have quite a few dark spots on my face, including under my eyes, from all the eye rubbing over the years, a few on my cheeks and chin, and quite a few on my forehead, from years of squinting. Even though they’re not completely gone, I don’t think they’ll ever be, they’re definitely reduced and faded. As well as fighting the dark spots, this has also kept the oil at bay, and leaves my skin feeling matte and silky soft. It’s amazing what one little drop, and that’s all I need to do my entire face, could do so much.
I think the packaging gives this a very high class boutique look, as it’s a nice small glass bottle with one of those pipette droppers with a rubber handle, which looks great left out on a counter.
The Kiehls Ultra Facial Moisturiser is described as being a light, yet effective lotion that leaves skin beautifully hydrated all day long, which uses kind, yet friendly ingredients, like Squalene, Vitamin E, and Vitamin A.
The scent of this isn’t my favourite, as it kind of reminds me of cardboard and nuts. I’m not sure why either, but that’s what it reminds me of. The good thing about this though, is that it disappears very quickly and doesn’t interfere with any other facial products scent, which is brilliant.
The texture of this is kind of like water mixed with a cream, so it’s extremely light. It did however take a couple of moments to fully sink into my skin, so it did get on my nerves a little.
This says that it’s supposed to be a lightweight and effective moisturiser, which it most definitely is. When ever I use this, within a couple of moments, my face is intensely moisturised, but not at all greasy. I have extremely dry under eyes, and after using this once, I had the most moisturised under eyes i’ve had in years.
The packaging of this is just your average tall moisturiser bottle, with a click to close lid, which is great as it won’t leak, but I do think it needs something a little more destinctive, as I couldn’t tell it apart from the other tall moisturiser bottles I have.
The Kiehls Super Multi Corrective Cream SPF 30, is described as being a moisturising cream that lifts, smoothes, sculpts, moisturises, retexturises, and contains a broad range SPF of 30.
I absolutely love the scent of this, it just smells like a herbal Spa treatment. It’s a kind of mix between an extremely fresh clean scent, and a herb garden, with an essential oil scent thrown in. I love just sitting there and sniffing this, does that sound weird?
The texture of this is quite different to the rest of the other products, as it’s a very heavy and thick cream. This can be quite annoying as it does take quite a long time for it to sink into my skin, and because it is a heavy cream, it does mean that using it with anything else is a massive no. If I do use anything else with this, wether it being on top or underneath, it can leave my skin feeling rather greasy.
It says that it’s supposed to lift, smooth, sculpt, moisturise, and retexturise my skin. I’m not sure whether or not it lifts and sculps my skin, but it definitely moisturises, smoothes, and retexturises it. After using this, my skin is intensely moisturised and silky smooth. It definitely retexturises my skin, as after i’ve used this, I often find loose bits of dead skin just falling off my face. I know that sounds gross, but if it sorts my dry patches out, i’m not going to argue with it. Another thing I like about this, is that it contains a broad spectrum SPF. I have to admit, i’m a little forgetful when it comes to using an SPF, so to have this already included means that I don’t have to remember to apply it, and my skin is always protected.
The packaging of this is a little disappointing, as its a short fat glass, well I think it’s glass, tub, with a shiny plastic lid. To be honest, I think the shiny plastic lid makes the entire product look, and feel a little cheap.
Overall I would have to rate the Kiehls Grapefruit Bath and Shower Liquid Body Cleanser, an eight point five out of ten, the Kiehls Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution, a nine point five out of ten, the Kiehls Ultra Facial Moisturiser, a seven out of ten, and the Kiehls Super Multi Corrective Cream SPF 30, an eight point five out of ten.
I absolutely love the Kiehls Grapefruit Bath and Shower Liquid Body Cleanser, the texture is extremely unique, and I haven’t found anything else with the same watery texture. The scent is gorgeous, and is zesty without being that sharp concentrated citrus scent like some other products. The Kiehls Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution is amazing. I can’t believe that it’s managed to counteract my dark spots, and the fact that it leaves my skin oil free and moisturised is a massive bonus. The Kiehls Ultra Facial Moisturiser was ok, but I unfortunately couldn’t get over that cardboard scent. I again loved the Kiehls Super Multi Corrective Cream SPF 30, but I think it’s just a little too intense for my skin, so I can only use it every other day, rather than every day. I love the scent, and the results on my skin, but I do think the packaging lets it down a little.
I would just like to thank Kiehls for sending me these amazing products, and if you haven’t already, I highly recommend you check them out.
