I absolutely love using some kind of Retinol Serum in my Evening Skincare Routine, as I really like how silky soft and smooth it leaves my Skin feeling and that it also makes it look a little bit younger too. That’s why when I saw that Nadine Baggott had released a The Complete Winter Skincare Edit in collaboration with Superdrug that contained a Bottle of their Optimum Extra Strength 0.3% Retinol Serum whilst I was scrolling through their Website a couple of weeks ago, I obviously had to pick it up. Well i’ve been using it for a little while now, and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of it.

Our Superdrug Optimum Retinol range consists of specially formulated products that contain active levels of ingredients to help increase Cell Turnover and target multiple signs of Ageing such as Fine Lines & Wrinkles, dullness and uneven Skin tone. It’s scent.
I wasn’t really a massive fan of it’s scent, as even though it contained Water, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Glycine Soja Oil, Isoamyl Laurate, Bakuchiol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Propamediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Triethyl Citrate, Fragrance, Retinol, Benzoic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hyaluronate, Enteromorpha Compressa Seaweed Extract, Tulsi Leaf Extract, Milk Thistle Fruit Extract, and Citric Acid, I thought that it had a very strange deep and musky yet ever so slightly chemical Paint scent to it that kind of reminded me of the scent you smell whenever you walk into a Room that’s just been painted.
It’s consistency.
I really liked it’s consistency, as even though it was called a Retinol Serum, I thought that it felt incredibly thick and watery yet ever so slightly gelatinous, and was more like an incredibly thick and watery yet ever so slightly Gelatinous Hyaluronic Acid Serum rather than a thin and watery yet ever so slightly gelatinous Retinol Serum.
What it did when I used it.
I really liked what this did when I used it, as once I had started to massage a little bit of it into my Skin, it turned from an incredibly thick and watery yet ever so slightly gelatinous Hyaluronic Acid Serum into a thin and watery yet ever so slightly balmy Retinol Serum that sank into my Skin within a matter of seconds.
It’s results.
I absolutely loved it’s results, as not only did this leave my Skin feeling incredibly silky soft, smooth, matte, plump, bouncy and intensely hydrated, but it also left it looking extremely glowing, radiant, clearer and much healthier for hours after I had used it. I also really liked that it managed to ever so slightly minimise some of the Fine Lines and Wrinkles that are around my Eyes and Forehead.
It’s packaging.
I really liked it’s packaging, as this came in a short cylindrical Plastic Bottle with a Pump Lid that looked beautiful sat on my Beauty Shelves.
My overall thoughts.
Overall I would have to rate the Superdrug Optimum Extra Strength 0.3% Retinol Serum a nine out of ten. I absolutely loved it’s incredibly thick and watery yet ever so slightly gelatinous consistency, what it did when I used it, it’s results, and it’s packaging, but I just wasn’t a massive fan of it’s very strange deep and musky yet ever so slightly chemical Paint scent. I also wish that it was available in a range of different strengths of Retinol for anyone who has already been using Retinol in their Skincare Routine for a while, but if you’re just starting to use Retinol I think it’s a fantastic starting point.
