It’s no secret that I absolutely love a Costa Coffee Black Forest Hot Chocolate, as it’s one of my favourite Festive Drinks, and that i’m always trying to find a way to make one at Home so that I can enjoy it all year round. That’s why when I had heard that Tesco had released a Box of Finest Belgian 45% Black Forest Hot Chocolate Flakes, I obviously had to pop down to my local Tesco store and pick them up. Well i’ve been drinking them for a little while now, and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of them.

here’s what Tesco say about their Finest Belgian 45% Black Forest Flavour Hot Chocolate Flakes.

Their cooking time.

It said that you were supposed to add 4 heaped Tablespoons into a Mug, add a little bit of Hot Milk, mix to a Paste and then pour over some Warm Milk and whisk until combined, which I thought was a little bit too much, as whenever I used two heaped Tablespoons I thought that it tasted like the Black Forest Hot Chocolate that you would probably find at a High End Cafe, and that whenever I used the recommended amount of four heaped Tablespoons that it tasted extremely sweet and heavy.

Their taste.

I absolutely loved their taste, as even though they contained Sugar, Cocoa Mass, Dried Whole Milk Powder, Cocoa Butter, Fat Reduced Cocoa Powder, Soya Lecithins, and Flavouring, I thought that they had a delicious deep and chocolatey yet ever so slightly fruity Black Forest taste to them that kind of reminded me of eating a massive Slice of freshly made Black Forest Gateaux on a freezing cold Winter’s Day.

Their packaging.

I wasn’t really a massive fan of their packaging, as even though these came in a very thick Plastic Bag inside of a really thick Cardboard Box that kept all of the Flakes really fresh until I was ready to start drinking them, I would have preferred it if it had come in some kind of a Cardboard Tub with a Resealable Plastic Lid so that they had stayed fresher for longer.

My overall thoughts.

Overall I would have to rate the Tesco Finest Belgian 45% Black Forest Hot Chocolate Flakes an eight point five out of ten. I absolutely loved their incredibly deep and chocolatey yet ever so slightly fruity Black Forest taste, but I didn’t think that you needed to use as much as they recommended, as when I did it made it taste extremely sweet and heavy. I also wish that they had come in some kind of a cardboard Tub with a Resealable Plastic Lid instead of in a Cardboard Box so that they had stayed fresher for longer.
