A couple of weeks ago, me, Jamie and Michelle were very kindly invited down to The Body Shop York to come and celebrate the relaunch of their Activism Workshop Store, and after having a fantastic time checking everything out, I thought that I would tell you all about it.

What happened when I visited The Body Shop York?

Once we had finally arrived in York, had met up with Michelle, and had been for a couple of Drinks, we eventually headed to The Body Shop York, which is located opposite Primark inside the Coppergate Shopping Centre on Coppergate Walk in York City Centre.
Then once we had walked into the extremely bright and beautiful looking store, we were very kindly greeted by one of their very friendly Staff Members, who said hi and asked us if we were ok. We said hi back, and that yes we were, and after a couple of seconds of us all chatting, she said that she hoped we had a great evening and that we could go on through. Then once we had walked through, we were greeted by another one of their very friendly Staff Members who asked us if we would like a Drink, to which I of course said yes to, before she said that we could just wander around the Store until everyone else had arrived.

We then just wandered around for a little while and checked out some of the new features of the Store until everyone else had arrived, including their new Test & Play Area which has a massive Lazy Susan Table with massive Terracotta Pots on it full of all of the different Body Butters that they offer, including British Rose, Olive, Pink Grapefruit, Satsuma and Strawberry so that you can actually try them out on your Skin instead of just smelling them in their Tubs. .
Then after a good ten minutes of us wandering around, Michelle, the Manager of the store, brought the entire Store to a quiet and started to tell us all about the inspiration behind the new look, including that it’s been designed to look like an Artisan Workshop, and that all of the Fixtures and Fittings in the store have been made using Recycled Materials, including Recycled Plastic Storage Crates, , repurposed Trestle Tables, Scaffolding Planks, and Recycled Copper Taps.
She then told us all about some of the features of the new store, including the Test & Play area, the Activism Area where people in the community can come together to discuss different issues, and that they’ve commissioned a local Artis called Kate Semple to create some beautiful pieces of Artwork that’s dotted around the store.
Then once she had finished telling us all about the new look, she passed us over to Angela who started to tell us all about some of the new products that they’ve just launched, including their Edelweiss and Vitamin E ranges, their Refillable Makeup range, and some of their new Face Masks, before she started to demonstrate an entire Vitamin E Skincare Routine on someone that was also at the Event.

Then once she had finished demonstrating all of the amazing Vitamin E products, she passed us over to Luke who started to tell us all about some of the ingredients that they use in their products and where they come from, including that the Shea Butter that’s in most of their products comes from a community of Women in Ghana, that their Roses in their British Rose range comes from Kent in England, and that the Olive Fruit Oil in their Olive range comes from Italy. He also told us all about their Refill Station, including that you can choose to refill some of their iconic Shower Gels, Shampoos, Conditioners and Hand Washes, and that they also have some limited edition Bottles to choose from.

Then once he had finally finished telling us all about the Refill Station, we just wandered around for a little while and checked out some of their other amazing ranges, including their Tea Tree range which includes a refillable Tea Tree Face Base, a Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub ,and a Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask.

We then wandered over to their Fragrance Department as they’ve had lots of new releases lately that Michelle hadn’t checked out yet, including their Full Of Flowers range which contains four delicious smelling Perfumes that have all been inspired by the full Flower, and their Choices Fragrance range which includes five previously discontinued Fragrances, including Blissful Strawberry, Glowing Cherry Blossom, Rebel Rosebud, Vibrant Bergamot, and Wild Jasmine.
Then after we had been wandering around for quite a while the evening started to draw to a close, so we decided that it was time to head off. So we headed to the Til to pay for all of the products that we had picked up, said our thank you’s and goodbyes to some of the really friendly staff Members that we had met throughout the evening, and headed off back into York to catch our Train. But before we could leave, one of the really nice Staff Members handed us a little Goodie Bag containing one of their Refillable Bottles full of their Almond Milk Shower Cream, a Tin of their Chamomile Sumptuous Makeup Cleansing Butter, a miniature Tub of their Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask, and a little Tube of their Hemp Hand Protector.
