You Really Need To Step Up Your Game If You Want To Achieve Younger Looking Skin | Geek & Gorgeous 101 A-Game 5 0.05% Retinal Serum

With the European Union changing the regulations on Retinol products and capping the amount of Retinol that can be in a Face product at 0.3%, i’ve been trying to make the switch to Retinal to keep my Skin looking as plump and youthful as I possibly can. Unfortunately though, there aren’t that many budget-friendly Retinal Serums currently on the Market, unless you want to spend upwards of £50 a Bottle. That’s why when I saw that Geek & Gorgeous had released a 101 A-Game 5 0.05% Retinal Serum that claims to leave you with silky soft, smooth, plump and younger-looking Skin for only £13.50 a Bottle whilst I was scrolling through Superdrug’s Website a couple of weeks ago, I obviously had to pick it up. Well i’ve been using it for a little while now, and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of it.

Here’s what Geek & Gorgeous say about their 101 A-Game 5 0.05% Retinal Serum.

A silky, light emulsion containing a medium-strength amount of stabilised Retinal to help against all signs of aging, while being gentle on the Skin.
Retinal is the “big brother” molecule of the better known anti-aging superstar, Retinol. While Retinol needs two metabolic conversion steps to reach the active form, Retinoic Acid ,aka Tretinoin, Retinal is the direct precursor only one conversion step away from the active form the Skin Cells understand. It is estimated that Retinal can convert more than 10x faster to Retinoic Acid than Retinol, making Retinal an outstandingly effective member of the Retinoid Family.

  • 6-6.5 pH.
  • 0.05% Retinal.
  • + Allantoin Biosaccharide Gum-1.

Once converted, Retinal helps the Skin Cells to produce more Collagen and other structural elements, making the Skin more youthful, firm and elastic. It also speeds up the renewal process of the Upper Skin Layers making it smoother and more even. A-Game is a smart-aging must-have, but it is also useful as an adjacent product for fading Pigmentation, as well as helping Acne-Prone Skin.
In terms of strength and knowledge, we would compare our 0.05% Retinal Serum to a mid-strength Retinol product, typically in the 0.2 to 0.5% range, but with less irritation potential and possibly quicker results.

It’s scent.

I absolutely loved it’s scent, as even though it contained Water, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Oleyl Erucate, Glycerin, Triheptanoin, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Cyclodextrin, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Allantoin, Retinal, Cloudberry Seed Oil, Panthenol, Citric Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Disodium Edta, Pentylene Glycol, Honeysuckle Flower Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, and Phenoxyethanol, I thought that it had a very subtile fresh and floral yet ever so slightly fruity Honeysuckle scent to it that kind of reminded me of the scent you smell whenever you walk past a Vase full of Honeysuckle on a balmy Spring Afternoon.

It’s consistency.

I really liked it’s consistency, as even though it was called a Retinal Serum, I thought that it felt incredibly thick and gelatinous yet ever so slightly watery, and was more like an incredibly thick and gelatinous yet ever so slightly watery Cleansing Gel rather than a thin and watery yet ever so slightly gelatinous Retinal Serum.

What it did when I used it.

I really liked what this did when I used it, as once I had started to massage a little bit of it into my Skin, it turned from an incredibly thick and gelatinous yet ever so slightly watery Cleansing Gel into a thin and watery yet ever so slightly gelatinous Retinal Serum that sank into my Skin within a matter of seconds.

It’s results.

I absolutely loved it’s results, as not only did this leave my Skin feeling incredibly silky soft, smooth, refreshed, plump, bouncy and intensely hydrated, but it also left it looking extremely glowing, radiant, a little bit brighter, a lot younger and much healthier for hours after I had used it. I also really liked that it didn’t manage to irritate the Patches of Eczema that I get underneath my Eyes, and that it managed to temporarily make some of the Fine Lines and Wrinkles that are around my Eyes and Forehead totally disappear.

It’s packaging.

I really liked it’s packaging, as this came in a short cylindrical Airtight Plastic Bottle with a Pump Lid that looked beautiful sat on my Beauty Shelves.

My overall thoughts.

Overall I would have to rate the Geek & Gorgeous 101 A-Game 5 0.05% Retinal Serum a nine out of ten. I absolutely loved it’s very subtile fresh and floral yet ever so slightly fruity Honeysuckle scent, it’s consistency, what it did when I used it, it’s results, and it’s packaging, but I just wish that it was available in a much bigger Bottle, as 30ml of a Retinal Serum doesn’t really last that long, especially if you’re using it every Night like you’re supposed to do.
