There’ll Be Oats In The Water. There’ll Be Birds On The Ground | Lush Oat Cleansing Balm | Gifted

Whenever i’m in the middle of an Eczema Flare-Up, the first thing that I do is stop using my normal every-day Skincare Routine and switch to things that contain nice and calming ingredients, like Ceramides, Cica, and Oat Kernel Extract. That’s why when the guys over at Lush very kindly asked me if I would like to try a Jar of their Oat Cleansing Balm that’s part of their Gentle Cleanser 2026 range and claims to leave you with silky soft, calm and hydrated Skin, I of course said yes. Well i’ve been using it for a little while now, and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of it.

Here’s what Lush say about their Oat Cleansing Balm.

Ultra-effective for a non-stripping cleanse.

Perfect for leaving the Skin feeling soft, nourished and never stripped.

What’s in it for you?

  • Handmade Whole Oat Infusion, softens, soothes, gently hydrates.
  • Sunflower Oil, lightweight and a natural source of Vitamin E, an Antioxidant which keeps Skin radiant and supple.
  • Organic Almond Oil, emollient, Antioxidant rich.
  • Honey and Beeswax, nutrient rich, retains moisture.
  • Patchouli, Lavender and Clary Sage Oil, for a herbal scent that’s just as lovely as removing your Makeup.

It’s scent.

I wasn’t really a massive fan of it’s scent, as even though it contained Organic Cold Pressed Almond Oil, Whole Oat Infusion, Beeswax, Sunflower Oil, Organic Millet Flake Infusion, Honey, Glycerin, Clary Sage Oil, Sicilian Lemon Oil, Dark Sumatran Patchouli Oil, Lavender Extract, Tincture of Benzoin, Sunflower Seeds, Benzoic Acid, Limonene, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Benzoate, and Fragrance, I thought that it had a very strange deep and musky yet ever so slightly spicy Oat and Patchouli  scent to it that kind of reminded me of if someone had accidentally poured some Patchouli Oil into a massive Bowl of Porridge.

It’s consistency.

I really liked it’s consistency, as even though it was called a Cleansing Balm , I thought that it felt incredibly thick and buttery yet ever so slightly creamy, and was more like an incredibly thick and buttery yet ever so slightly creamy Shaper Paste rather than a thick and balmy yet ever so slightly oily Cleansing Balm.

What it did wen I used it.

I really liked what this did when I used it, as once I had started to massage a little bit of it into my Skin, it turned from an incredibly thick and buttery yet ever so slightly creamy Shaper Paste into a thick and balmy yet ever so slightly oily Cleansing Balm that spread really easily across my Face.

It’s results.

I absolutely loved it’s results, as not only did this leave my Skin feeling incredibly squeaky clean, silky soft, smooth, soothed, calm, plump, bouncy, hydrated and intensely moisturised, but it also left it looking extremely glowing, radiant, less inflamed and much healthier for hours after I had used it. I also really liked that it didn’t manage to irritate the Patches of Eczema that I get underneath my Eyes, and in some cases actually helped to calm, soothe and hydrate them whenever I was in the middle of a Flare-Up.

It’s packaging.

I really liked it’s packaging, as this came in a short cylindrical Black Glass Jar with a Plastic screw top Lid that looked beautiful sat on my Beauty Shelves.

My overall thoughts.

Overall I would have to rate the Lush Oat Cleansing Balm a nine out of ten. I absolutely loved it’s incredibly thick and buttery yet ever so slightly creamy consistency, what it did when I used it, it’s results, and it’s packaging, but I just wasn’t a massive fan of it’s very strange deep and musky yet ever so slightly spicy Oat and Patchouli scent. I also wish that it was available in a much bigger Jar, as I needed to use a fair amount of it to coat my Face, and 60g of a Cleansing Balm doesn’t last that long, especially if you’re using it Morning and Evening like you’re supposed to do.
If you would like to check out the Lush Oat Cleansing Balm for yourselves, then you can either pop into your local Lush store, or you can find it online here.
I was very kindly sent a Jar of Lush Oat Cleansing Balm to review, but all thoughts, opinions, and general ramblings are my own.
