Even though I always wear some kind of SPF every day, whether that’s a Cream, a Mist, or a Serum, I always like to use something that contains at least SPF30 to truly protect my Skin from the Sun’s harmful UV Rays. Unfortunately though, it can sometimes completely dry out my Skin if I wear a really thick SPF for too many days in a row, which means that i’m always on the look out for a lighter SPF that I can wear around the House whenever I want to give my Skin a bit of a break but still want to keep it protected. That’s why when I saw that Lush had released a Suncare 2024 range that claims to contain a range of lighter SPFs for both your Face & Body, I obviously had to pop down to my local Lush store and check everything out. Well after giving everything a good sniff, I eventually picked up a Tub of Skin Guardian Facial Sunscreen, and a Bottle of Sun Companion Sunscreen Lotion ,and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of them.
Here’s what Lush say about both amazing products.
The Lush Skin Guardian Facial Sunscreen.
Hydrating SPF 15 for dewy Skin.
This gentle Sunscreen wants to wrap your Skin up and care for it. We make it with softening Shea and Cupuaçu Butters for moisture, Fresh Apple Juice for the AHAs, and Sunscreen for broad spectrum SPF 15 protection so your Face feels truly cared for. Smoothing Organic Almond Oil, a rather lovely Lily Infusion and plenty of humectant Vegan Glycerine leaves your complexion softer than a, well a you know what. A lovely dewy finish keeps Skin looking fresh and glowy. If you were a fan of Skin Nanny, you’ll be a fan of this.
How to use.
Apply generously to the Face every two hours when out in the Sun, not forgetting those easily neglected areas such as the upper lip. Pair with a Hat and Shades.
Good for you and the Planet.
Made with Sunscreens tested on Human Skin Models in a completely Animal-free La. to determine safe non-genotoxic concentrations for Human use.
Made with fairly traded Shea Butter, hand produced by the Ojoba Women’s Shea Cooperative in Bolgatanga, Ghana.
The Lush Sun Companion Sunscreen Lotion.
Light and lovely SPF 20.
An evocative Melon-scented Fragrance in a light nutritious Lotion to protect the Skin when you are out and about in the Sun. We know applying Sunscreen can be a bit of a chore, so we always pair our Sunscreen with nourishing ingredients like Evening Primrose Oil to make them lovely to use. The dreamy combination of Olive, Jojoba and Almond Oils in this Lotion keeps the Skin so soft that even the most persistent of Sunscreen shirkers will want to top up generously, just as they should. This cult blend was also tested on Mount Kilimanjaro in our Cosmetics To Go days so we know it will keep your Skin in peak condition.
How to use.
Apply liberally and thoroughly to exposed Skin on the Body. Re-apply every two hours. Pair with Shades, Protective Clothing and a Hat. Store out of direct Sunlight.

It’s scent.
I absolutely loved it’s scent, as even though it contained Lily Infusion, Glycerine, Octocrylene, Fair Trade Shea Butter, Octylmethoxycinnamate, Organic Almond Oil, Glyceryl Stearate & PEG-100 Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Organic Jojoba Oil, Cold-Pressed Organic Borage Oil, Cold-Pressed Organic Hibiscus Seed Oil, Fresh Apple Juice, Cupuaçu Butter, Everlasting Flower Absolute, Ylang Ylang Oil, Japan Wax, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Amyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Benzoate, Cinnamyl Alcohol, Citral, Citronellol, Farnesol, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellol, Isoeugenol, Limonene, Linalool, and Fragrance, I thought that it had a very subtile fresh and floral yet ever so slightly powdery Lily scent to it that kind of reminded me of walking past some Lillies on a balmy Spring Afternoon.
It’s consistency.
I really liked it’s consistency, as even though it was called a Facial Sunscreen, I thought that it felt incredibly thick and balmy yet ever so slightly oily, and was more like an incredibly thick and balmy yet ever so slightly oily Cleansing Balm rather than a thin and creamy yet ever so slightly oily Facial Sunscreen.
What it did when I used it.
I really liked what this did when I used it, as once I had started to massage a little bit of it into my Skin, it turned from an incredibly thick and balmy yet ever so slightly oily Cleansing Balm into a thin and oily yet ever so slightly creamy Facial Balm that sank into my Skin within a couple of minutes.
It’s results.
I really liked it’s results, as not only did this leave my Skin feeling incredibly silky soft, smooth, protected, plump, bouncy, hydrated and intensely moisturised, but it also left it looking extremely glowing, radiant and much healthier for hours after I had used it. I also really liked that it didn’t manage to irritate the Patches of Eczema that I get underneath my Eyes.
It’s packaging.
I really liked it’s packaging, as this came in a short cylindrical Plastic Tub with a screw top Lid that looked beautiful sat on my Beauty Shelves.

It’s scent.
I absolutely loved it’s scent, as even though it contained Water, Octocrylene, Octylmethoxycinnamate, Almond Oil, Cupuaçu Butter, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Cucumber Extract, Stearic Acid, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Organic Cold-Pressed Evening Primrose Oil, Glycerine, Organic Jojoba Oil, Propylene Glycol, Hibiscus Flower Extract, Treithanolamine, Cold-Pressed Carrot Seed Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Limonene, and Fragrance, I thought that it had a delicious sweet and fruity yet ever so slightly grassy Cantaloupe Melon scent to it that kind of reminded me of the scent you smell whenever you cut into a perfectly ripened Cantaloupe Melon.
It’s consistency.

It’s results.
I really liked it’s results, as not only did this leave my Skin feeling incredibly silky soft, smooth, soothed, protected, plump, bouncy, moisturised and intensely hydrated, but it also left it looking extremely glowing, radiant and much healthier for hours after I had used it. I was however a little bit disappointed that it’s delicious sweet and fruity yet ever so slightly grassy Cantaloupe Melon scent didn’t last for that long on my Skin after I had applied it though, but given that it’s supposed to be a Sunscreen Lotion and not a Body Lotion, that’s kind of to be expected.
It’s packaging.
I really liked it’s packaging, as this came in a tall cylindrical Plastic Bottle with a clickable Lid that looked beautiful sat on my Beauty Shelves.
My overall thoughts.
Overall I would have to rate the Lush Skin Guardian Facial Sunscreen a six out of ten, and the Lush Sun Companion Sunscreen Lotion a six point five out of ten. I really liked the Lush Skin Guardian Facial Sunscreen, as I absolutely loved it’s very subtile fresh and floral yet ever so slightly powdery Lily scent, it’s consistency, what it did when I used it, it’s results, and it’s packaging, but I just wish that it had contained a much higher level of Sun Protection, as SPF15 won’t really protect you from that much, especially if you live anywhere outside of the UK.
