When I was a Child I used to live near a Newsagents that stocked a massive amount of Pick ‘N’ Mix Sweets, including Anglo Bubbly Bubblegum, Cola Bottles, Fizzy Laces, Foam Bananas, Twin Cherries, and much, much more. Unfortunately though, Pick ‘N’ Mix Sweets seem to be really hard to come by now, which means that i’m always on the look out for anything that will give me that hit of Sweet nostalgia without having to order something from a Specialist Online Sweet Shop. That’s why when I had heard that Bird & Blend Tea Company had released a Bubblegum Pop Loose Leaf Tea that claims to taste just like a piece of 90s Bubblegum, I obviously had to pop down to my local Bird & Blend Tea Company store and pick it up. Well i’ve been drinking it for a little while now, and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of it.

Here’s what Bird & Blend Tea Company say about their Bubblegum Pop Loose Leaf Tea.
Bubblegum Pop! is Summer in the City turned ALL the way up. This juicy Caffeine-free Fruit Tea is bursting with hot Pink Energy & major retro vibes. Best cold brewed with Lemonade for maximum refreshment, it’s made for sunny Days, late Nights & everything in between.
Sip, snap, pop & let the good times roll!
- Tastes like, fruity, sweet, Dessert.
- Fruit Tea, Caffeine-free.
It’s brewing time.
It said that you were supposed to brew this for four minutes at 100ºC, which I thought was the perfect amount of time, as whenever I brewed it for any less I thought that it tasted incredibly weak and basically just tasted of really sweet Water, and that whenever I brewed it for any longer that it tasted extremely sour and just tasted of Purple Carrot. It also said that you were supposed to brew this for six hours in Lemonade if you wanted to Cold Brew it, which I thought was the perfect amount of time, as whenever I brewed it for any less I couldn’t really taste any of the Hibiscus or Puffed Rice, and that whenever I brewed it for any longer all i could really taste was the Strawberry Pieces.
It’s taste.
I really liked it’s taste, as even though it contained Purple Carrot, Apple Pieces, Hibiscus, Stevia, Puffed Rice, Strawberry Pieces, and Natural Flavouring, I thought that it had a delicious sweet and fruity yet ever so slightly creamy Strawberry Bubblegum taste to it that kind of reminded me of if someone had covered an entire Packet of Strawberry Bubblegum in some Fondant Icing and had then rolled it in some hundreds and thousands.
It’s packaging.
I really liked it’s packaging, as this came in a massive rectangular resealable Paper Pouch which meant that all of the Fruit and Flower Pieces stayed extremely fresh and didn’t lose any of their delicious flavour.
My overall thoughts.
Overall I would have to rate the Bird & Blend Tea Company Bubblegum Pop Loose Leaf Tea an eight out of ten. I really liked it’s brewing time, it’s delicious sweet and fruity yet ever so slightly creamy Strawberry Bubblegum taste, and it’s packaging, but I just wish that it had tasted a little bit more of Bubblegum, as I thought that it tasted more like a grown-up version of the Bubblegum that I used to eat in the 90s rather than the sweet and fruity yet very synthetic Bubblegum taste that I was expecting.

Yet to try it hot but found cold brewed overnight in lemonade, it just seemed to have a strange malty-type aftertaste. Having a little moment of madness, I took the puffed rice out of a scoop and cold brewed it in cream soda overnight… now I’d say it’s got that sweet nostalgic bubblegum flavour without the strange aftertaste. Definitely think it’s worth a try though!
Ohh that sounds delicious. I will definitely have to give it a try.
