I’m always trying to include more Organic and Vegan Brands into my Haircare Routine, but as my Scalp is very particular and tends to have a Breakdown any time that I try to introduce any new products by becoming dry, irritated and flaky, it’s very difficult to find anything that it will actually like. That’s why when I saw that the Holland and Barrett 2024 Beauty Advent Calendar included a Tube of the Sukin Balancing Scalp Scrub that claims to leave you with a silky soft, soothed and balanced Scalp whilst I was scrolling through their Website a couple of weeks ago, I obviously had to pick it up. Well i’ve been using it for a little while now, and I thought that I would tell you what I thought of it.

Our Scalp Scrub removes product build up and impurities with a refreshing blend of Peppermint & Ginger Extract. Bamboo Powder gently exfoliates, whilst Horsetail, Burdock & Nettle helps maintain balance of Scalp.
Paraben and Silicone free.
For all Hair types.
Australian made.
Suitable for Vegans.
How to use.
Section damp Hair and apply to your Scalp massaging in a circular motion to exfoliate. Continue to section your Hair and repeat until your Scalp is covered. Rinse thoroughly and follow with your usual Haircare Routine. Use once or twice a week.
It’s scent.
I absolutely loved it’s scent, as even though it contained Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Glycerin, Bamboo Stem Extract, Pumice, Decyl Glucoside, Sesame Seed Oil, Peppermint Extract, Peppermint Leaf Extract, Ginger Root Extract, Spearmint Leaf Oil, Tocopherol, Soybean Oil, Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Horsetail Extract, Burdock Root Extract, Nettle Leaf Extract, Xanthan Gum, Cetearyl Glucoside, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Lactic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, and Benzyl Alcohol, I thought that it had a delicious fresh and minty yet ever so slightly creamy Spearmint scent to it that kind of reminded me of if someone had crushed up a massive Pile of some freshly picked Spearmint Leaves.
It’s consistency.
I really liked it’s consistency, as even though it was called a Scalp Scrub, I thought that it felt incredibly thin and gelatinous yet ever so slightly gritty, and was more like an incredibly thin and gelatinous Shower Gel with little pieces of Bamboo Stem Extract running through it rather than a thick and gritty yet ever so slightly watery Scalp Scrub.
What it did when I used it.
I really liked what this did when I used it, as once I had started to massage a little bit of it into my Scalp, it turned from an incredibly thin and gelatinous yet ever so slightly gritty Shower Gel with little pieces of Bamboo Stem Extract running through it into a thick and gritty yet ever so slightly balmy Scalp Scrub that spread really easily through my Hair.
It’s results.
I absolutely loved it’s results, as not only did this leave my Scalp feeling incredibly squeaky clean, silky soft, smooth, soothed, balanced, refreshed, plump, bouncy and intensely hydrated, but it also left my Hair looking extremely volumised, really shiny and much healthier for hours after I had used it.
It’s packaging.
I wasn’t really a massive fan of it’s packaging, as even though this came in a tall conical Plastic Tube with a clickable Lid that looked beautiful sat on my Beauty shelves, because of it’s incredibly thin and gelatinous yet ever so slightly gritty consistency, most of it unfortunately got stuck to the inside of it’s Tube.
My overall thoughts.
Overall I would have to rate the Sukin Balancing Scalp Scrub an eight out of ten. I absolutely loved it’s delicious fresh and minty yet ever so slightly creamy Spearmint scent, it’s consistency, what it did when I used it, and it’s results, but I just wish that it had come in a Plastic Tub so that most of it didn’t get stuck to the inside of it’s Tube.
